How at the end of the last century an Indian archaeologist discovered the ruins of an ancient city at the bottom of the Arabian Sea

India is an amazing country, famous not only for its widespread poverty and unsanitary conditions, but also for its very ancient history. Have you ever heard of Dvaraka? According to Indian legends, this ancient city was built by Krishna himself, after which the Yadav tribes began to live in it.

According to Krishna's plan, this city was to become the new capital - after leaving Mathura. The legend of Dvaraka is truly strange - if you believe it, then this city was built in just one night, and it stood for about ten thousand years.

Here is just a small excerpt from the legend of Dvaraka, which was discovered by archaeologists among the ancient manuscripts of the Yadavas:

And the number of palaces in this city was just some fantastic - about 900,000 pieces. And, according to legend, they were all adorned with precious stones and metals.

But a week after Krishna died, the city was flooded and he found himself at the bottom of the sea. For a long time, researchers considered Dvaraka to be a real myth, and only closer to our time, archaeologists were able to find the ruins of an ancient city at the bottom of the Arabian Sea.

The first person to discover the ruins of the ancient city was a Hindu by nationality, archaeologist Rao. The found ancient city has no official name, but some researchers call it "Dr. Rao's Atlantis".

And the latter, as you know, also went under water. Initially, Dr. Rao carried out archaeological excavations in the coastal zone, on land. They began at the end of the last century - in 1979. Rao was able to find the remains of an ancient wall extending into the sea. The found construction of the archaeologist was very interested, and he decided to move along the wall.

Which led him to the ruins of an ancient city located on the seabed. Many ancient artifacts have been found among the city's ruins. After analyzing them, the archaeologist found that the oldest of them date back to 1500 BC.

As for the age of the city itself, many questions arise. Its age is very difficult to establish, and there are very different estimates here - from 2000 to 30,000 years. Dr. Rao discovered the ruins of the mysterious city on the territory of the Bay of Cambay.

After analyzing the infrastructure of the city, Dr. Rao was amazed - he very accurately repeats the description of the city of Dvaraka from the legends of the Yadavs - in ancient times the city had regular geometric shapes, paved roads, sculptures made of limestone.

Unfortunately, it was not possible to find completely preserved buildings. However, it was possible to roughly establish the outline of the ancient city along the existing roads. Apparently, in ancient times he was truly majestic and beautiful. The Yadavs in their legends called it nothing more than a "fairy kingdom".

But what ruined such a beautiful city? Dr. Rao believes it could have been destroyed by a huge tsunami. Traces of destruction are very clearly visible on the walls, from which a powerful wave threw out many huge stones of many tons.

Perhaps the tsunami led to the fact that the local river changed its direction and, as a result, a new bay was formed here, and the city went to the bottom. Is this city the remains of the legendary Dvaraka? Far from being a fact. In the legends of the Yadavs it is said that in the entire history of its existence, this city went under water six times.
