It is no secret that for decades, both in our country and overseas, the military has studied various non-standard types of weapons that can bring skeptics to smiles. Let's say hypnosis was considered a weapon

Some of the experiments with hypnosis and psychics in the Soviet Union were broadcast to the public. But there were also secret laboratories that investigated the paranormal.

The most diverse forms of it were studied - from hypnotic influence on the enemy's manpower to the introduction of their scouts into a trance so that they could “see” the enemy's positions. Both military and civilian specialists were engaged in so-called defense hypnosis - with the only difference that some were supervised by the Ministry of Defense, and others - by the USSR Academy of Sciences.

Hypnosis was used not only to defeat rivals earthlings, they tried to use it to establish contacts with extraterrestrial civilizations. In the USSR, similar experiments began to be carried out in 1946, in the USA - in 1947. And in Nazi Germany, similar experiments began a decade earlier - in 1935. To date, such experiments have been curtailed both in Russia and overseas, at least officially. However, the activity of martial parapsychologists continued until recently. It is possible that it is happening now, just not so clearly.

The USSR Ministry of Defense has been dealing with anomalous phenomena since the mid-40s, and during the Brezhnev era, a lot of money began to be allocated for such research - tens of millions of rubles annually. The researchers were deliberately divided: some of them were strictly classified and worked entirely for the defense industry, subordinate to the relevant ministry, while the task of others was to provide a convincing scientific basis for research. These scientists were deliberately assigned to the Academy of Sciences of the USSR and gave them the opportunity to practically unhindered travel abroad, which in those years, in general, not every academician could afford. Contacts with extraterrestrial civilizations, and unidentified natural phenomena, and unexplored human capabilities were considered anomalous phenomena in those days - all this was not done by some frivolous freaks, but quite sane professors, academicians and generals.

One of the most prominent figures in the academic study of anomalous phenomena was Natalya Bekhtereva, Academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences. Today she is best known for her scientific work on the human brain. Actually, Bekhtereva was the largest brain scientist in our country - since 1990 she headed the "Brain" center of the USSR Academy of Sciences - and one of three or four specialists of such a high level in the world. And, despite the abundance of conservative scientific works and world recognition, Bekhtereva all her life was a staunch supporter and, probably, an ascetic of the study of various kinds of anomalous phenomena. In the biographical information they write about this briefly - "she was criticized for a tolerant attitude towards mysticism and incorrectly staged experiments to test psychic abilities." In fact, everything was much more dramatic.

Bekhterev began to experiment with the human brain back in the 40s. Oddly enough, but it was Stalin who was the first Russian statesman to support the study of the "otherworldly" in the framework of academic science. After his death, there was a long lull: Khrushchev did not like "anomalies", treating her and her researchers, to put it mildly, with skepticism. In the early 60s, Bekhtereva "turned down" all her ambiguous experiments with extrasensory perception and suspended the award documents for the Order of Lenin and the Order of the Red Banner of Labor - the last Bekhtereva will be awarded only in 1975, although the performance on it was dated 1963.

But under Brezhnev, Natalia Bekhtereva had new opportunities. For the first time it was she who set up experiments to establish the surface relief at a distance - the "medium" was put into a trance, and he began to "see" the bends of the earth's surface hundreds of kilometers from the place of the experiment. In 1989-1992, similar experiments will be repeated by the military from military unit 10003, which will be discussed below. It should be added that both series of experiments were successful and "mediums" - both civilian and military - never made any serious mistakes. Actually, the General Staff was so impressed with what they saw that they created an entire military unit, however, at first with a small number of employees - there were only 10 people. But the position of the chief of this unit from the very beginning was a general's - only a dozen specialists were equated with two infantry battalions!

But back to Bekhtereva's experiments. Nine years ago, she, in collaboration with her students, published "the work of her entire life" - an article "On the so-called phenomenon of direct vision" was published in the journal Human Physiology. It was about the possibility of "alternative vision", when in order to see something at a considerable distance, a person does not need eyes at all.

The experiments were set up in such a way that the possibility of primitive peeping was completely ruled out, this was established by a special commission that tried to catch Bekhtereva of indulging adherents of pseudoscience. People put into a trance in a special way saw mineral deposits at any depth, could count the exact number of ships in a particular region of the world's oceans, and accurately indicated the places where ancient treasures could be buried. Before publishing the article, Bekhtereva said: “We have seriously tested this phenomenon - so much so that we can recommend it for use in the national economy and defense,” and suggested President Vladimir Putin to introduce a method of teaching “alternative vision” in the special services.

It is not known what exactly the president of the country answered to the academician. But "Bekhtereva's experiments" are still used by representatives of the special services and the military. True, it is not yet possible for mere mortals to find out what these experiments are. Secret.

Colonel Alexei Savin was aware of Bekhtereva's experiments back in the mid-80s - this awareness helped him soon become a general. Savin, who was interested in extrasensory perception and had access to secret documents, gathered a group of psychics who successfully searched for missing ships and planes, as if they knew how to prevent their crashes, and treated seriously wounded soldiers and officers at a distance. All these people served in the army in various ranks and least of all looked like sorcerers and fortune-tellers.

The Chief of the General Staff, General of the Army Mikhail Moiseev, was so impressed by how Savin's specialists “cleared” two minefields (and real explosive devices were being planted!) That at the end of the experiment he immediately signed an order on the formation of a new combat unit, as it was then jokingly called, "A platoon of psychics." And the "wizards" just moved their hands over the map of the area - and precisely established where the mines were buried. Interesting fact: within a year and a half after the creation of the unit, almost until the August putsch, the salary of Savin and his subordinates was personally charged by the Minister of Finance Valentin Pavlov, who was very interested in unusual experiences.

After the putsch, Savin's subordinates worked a lot in Chechnya. What they were doing there, apart from looking for secret minefields of militants and establishing the location of their command posts, it is difficult to say. But this work was recognized as so successful that in 1997 the military unit was reformed into a special directorate, and Savin was awarded the rank of lieutenant general. Office 10003 ceased operations in 2003, just after President Putin honored Natalya Bekhtereva with a lengthy conversation. Shortly thereafter, Bekhtereva announced the end of her parapsychological experiments, announcing that the threshold had come for her, and she de-knows that there is someone to continue her experiments.

This gave a reason to say that "Project 10003" has reached a different level of secrecy - a higher one. By the way, General Savin never confirmed, but also did not deny, that the military unit he created continues to function successfully to this day. It would be strange if the successful project was closed overnight: by 2003, about a hundred academic institutes and research institutes were involved in the work with the secret administration. The last "open" development of psychics in uniform was the method of destroying the enemy's military equipment at a distance - the electronic "brains" of combat devices were destroyed. As Savin jokes, "in fact by the power of thought."

Savin's wards were engaged not only in applied extrasensory perception, destroying the fortifications of the militants and finding minefields. The military unit 10003 had another name - the UFO Technology Research Center. According to General Savin, the main diversion of his subordinates was "undermining the belief in the reality of UFOs" - this was the perfect guarantee of maintaining the secrecy of research.
