The Stavropol region, like many southern regions, is rich in its own mysteries. There are haunted houses, mysterious dolmens, and places where miraculous healings take place … Today we will tell you about the most famous of them.
House with ghosts on Komsomolskaya
In the very center of Stavropol, on Komsomolskaya Street, which was previously called Baryatinskaya, there is a mansion of unusual Gothic architecture. They say that it was erected by one of the Georgian princesses, who, like the notorious queen Tamara, killed her lovers within its walls. Allegedly, after nights of love, she gave them poisoned wine to drink, and when they died, she ordered the servants to bury their bodies right outside the castle fence … Since then, the souls of the deceased cannot find peace, appearing in the vicinity of the mansion at a full moon.
According to another version, the Georgian princess has nothing to do with it - the mansion was built by the “bread king” of the Caucasus, Guliyev, to meet with his mistresses there.
According to official data, the first owner of the building was the merchant Ignat Volobuev, who built it for his daughter. She settled here with her husband, one of the most respected people in the city - Sergei Derevshchikov. After the death of her husband, Madame Derevshchikova sold the house, and the new owner began to rent furnished rooms there. In particular, she handed them over to monks and pilgrims from Transcaucasia, who frightened the surrounding residents with mournful singing … For some time after that, the house was empty, and then bad rumors began to circulate about it: they say, nobody knows whose laughter and sobs are heard from there.
During the Russo-Japanese War, a military hospital was opened here. It also existed in the First World War. And in Civic, according to legends, white officers from the "wild division" cut the throats of 30 wounded Red Army soldiers here. In the 1920s, the house housed the Cheka administration, during the Great Patriotic War - a medical unit for the German invaders. Leaving the city, the Germans mined the building, but it mysteriously survived.

After the war, it housed a tuberculosis dispensary, and in the 60s - a dormitory for medical students, who said that the spirits of deceased soldiers wandered along the corridors. Still - with such and such a turbulent history!
Back in the early 2000s, the building was put under restoration. But while it stands abandoned, with broken windows and broken doors … Homeless people live in some rooms.
Dolmens
In the area of Verbnaya Balka and the Tatar settlement you can see mysterious stone structures, similar to crypts. The same are found in the Caucasus. According to scientists, they were built more than three thousand years ago, in the Koban era.
Ancient remains and broken things were found inside the dolmens. In all likelihood, the latter belonged to the deceased and they were deliberately rendered useless for a symbolic purpose, as if forcing them to “die” along with the owner.
However, there is a version that dolmens turned into tombs already in later times. It is still unclear how such grandiose buildings were erected in an era when people had not yet learned how to work metal and did not have the necessary tools. Maybe the stones were moved by the priests, using the power of thought?
And the Adyghe people believe that dolmens were built by giants who once lived in these regions. And initially "Stavropol Stonehenge", as it is called today, did not have a funeral purpose at all - it was called upon to maintain contact with the other world.
Miraculous cross in Krasnogvardeisky district
Among the fields, a little to the side of the road leading to the village of Dmitrievskoye, there is a small red-brick remake chapel. A little further away, on a site paved with paving stones and fenced with a brick fence, there is a massive, about two meters high, a cross made of shell rock. According to legend, it grew in the XI century right out of the ground!
Pilgrims come here every day. They say that the cross heals diseases, those who do not walk in the literal sense of the word stand on their feet, the blind see their sight …
Under Soviet rule, the cross was once broken by a tractor and it split into two halves. And then one resident of the village of Pregradnoye, whose son was ill, had a vision that his son would recover if the cross was returned to its original place. So this man did … The son really recovered.
By the way, they say that the miracle cross not only heals, but also fulfills wishes - for example, it helps to sell housing, to solve material problems …
Healing crypt in Dmitrievsky
On the outskirts of the same Dmitrievsky there is a well (in local - "krinichka"), which also works wonders. Its water tastes bitter and salty and also has medicinal properties.
According to local old-timers, three springs - sweet, bitter and salty - were poured from the earth on the site of the present well. It is as if the Most Holy Theotokos herself "arranged" them here - for pilgrims dying of thirst. In Soviet times, they tried to bury the keys with life-giving water, but local residents did not give it. True, after excavation work, three springs merged into one. Later, one person who managed to cure his loved ones with the help of wonderful water installed a well in this place and a gazebo nearby.
Today, there are so many pilgrims who want to take water from the krinitsa that the well is emptied, and then you have to wait for it to be filled with water again.
How to be treated with life-giving water? If you have problems with internal organs, then you need to drink it, if, say, trouble with your legs - do baths or pour water over it. And for the prevention of any ailments, you can simply wash your face with this water every day.
