There are places on our planet where people disappear without a trace, one of these is the Valley of the Headless. It all started in the 19th century during the Gold Rush. They searched for gold and found death. Some gold prospectors simply disappeared without a trace, while others were found dead, often beheaded. Nevertheless, those wishing to get rich continued to visit this terrible place.
Head for gold
In the 1880s, rumors spread among gold prospectors of a valley in northern Canada rich in gold. And hundreds of prospectors rushed for easy money. None of them thought about the fact that the indigenous people (Indians) bypassed this place.
The first officially recorded victims in the police archives were six US miners. In 1897, the group set out in search of a new Klondike. They were confident that rifles and revolvers would be able to protect against any trouble. In 1909, their decapitated skeletons were found hugging weapons, and washing trays lay nearby.
The next recorded case occurred a year later. The McLeod brothers set out with a friend in search of gold. Four years later, hunters found their skeletons, also without heads. All the things of the gold diggers were in place.

By 1940, the death toll was officially over 50.
Researchers
The first research expedition led by Blake Mackenzie went to the "Valley of the Headless" only in June 1962. All members of the expedition disappeared. The police spent three months looking for the Mackenz expedition. Found the bodies of the researchers, of course, were beheaded.
Three years later, a second group of researchers from Germany was added to the list of victims of the cursed valley.
Years passed, but there was still no solution. In 1981, journalists became interested in the anomaly. The German publication Der Spiegel has funded a new research expedition. This time, experienced paratroopers were sent to the valley. On the fourth day, a radiogram was received from the researchers that everything around was covered with a thick fog, after which the connection was lost. A group of rescuers who were sent to search for the military also disappeared.
Hank Mortimer, an American specialist in anomalous phenomena, organized a new expedition. Two SUVs and a residential trailer were made of armored metal. Also, Mortimer's group was equipped with the latest communications and weapons. All this was in vain. On the very first day, the operator, who was constantly in touch with the expedition, heard the phrase through the shouts: “Emptiness comes out of the cave! Something terrible is happening!"
A helicopter with rescuers immediately flew to the rescue. It took only 40 minutes until they reached the camp, but there was no longer a single living person. Two days later, the headless corpse of one of the group members was found.
This is not a complete list of the victims of the valley. Who, or what, and why decapitates corpses?
Speculation and hypotheses
There are no official versions of what is happening. But there are several hypotheses.
The indigenous people claim that Bigfoot is in charge here. The first legends about a strange creature appeared in the middle of the 19th century.
The second version is the most real. Supposedly this is the case of bandits who rob and kill miners. And the corpses are decapitated so that they cannot be identified. Nevertheless, the police have never seen strangers, suspicious people here.
And finally, the most fantastic hypothesis. Some researchers of anomalous phenomena believe that there is a tunnel in the valley through which the transition to the other world, inhabited by evil spirits, is carried out. And it is these ghosts that kidnap people and for some reason return them back without their heads. But why the spirits do this, no one can explain.
Now "Valley of the Headless" no one dares to visit, it is watched only by satellites. And the Indians say: "To go to the Valley of the Headless, you have to be really headless."
