As the sociologists of the Public Opinion Foundation (FOM) found out, the "witch's holiday" Halloween in our country with its both Orthodox and historical traditions has not taken root too much. Only 3% of Russians intend to celebrate it. But we still believe in all sorts of otherworldly forces, and how!
46% of our fellow citizens admit the existence of various evil spirits, and 14% have personally encountered its intrigues. At the same time, 43% of Russians still do not believe in any mysticism or otherworldly forces. And if every tenth believes, then only in God (or Allah, or Buddha - depending on the confession to which he belongs).
Women are significantly more superstitious than men: exactly half of the weaker sex believes in otherworldly forces (the stronger half of Russians gave such an answer only in 42% of cases).
Approximately every twentieth respondent (5-6% each) admits the existence of “dead souls” (and sometimes he is sure that “the souls of our deceased loved ones protect us”), ghosts and ghosts, or something that “cannot be described in words”, etc. … Goblin, brownies, devils and demons are also not fiction, according to 3-4% of respondents.
Russians also believe in magic and sorcerers, in reels and polter actions, in parallel worlds and in the presence of “light forces” (each of the answers gained 2% of the votes). In angels, UFOs, "evil forces" and in life after death, our people believe twice less.
Interestingly, 14% admitted that they themselves had encountered something otherworldly. Allows the existence of any evil spirits and mysticism, but almost a third of Russians (31%) have not studied it from their own experience. The respondents' stories would give a hundred points ahead of scary kindergarten bedtime stories. “I saw a man who is not there”, “Brownie came”, “At work during the day, ghosts”, “I saw an old man in the form of a haze at night.
