One of the most popular musicians of the 20th century and the leader of the Beatles, John Lennon was tragically murdered 36 years ago. On December 8, 1980, on his way to his home in New York, the British musician was shot and killed by Michael Chapman, who was working for the US government at the time. This became known from the FBI documents released in 2010, in which Chapman offered to deport Lennon due to the influence of his music. But there is one moment in Lennon's life that to this day baffles his fans (see the video below).

Six years before his death, Lennon claimed that on August 23, 1974, he met face to face with a UFO.

“I saw a UFO. He moved down the river, turned right towards the United Nations, turned left, and then went down the river, the 34-year-old musician said, standing on the roof of his New York apartment immediately after the incident. - It was not a helicopter or a balloon. It was dark with white lights and silent."

His secretary and friend Mae Pang confirmed this story in her book To Love John, where she described the UFO as "a large round object approached us."

This was not the first time the famous singer had met extraterrestrial beings. Speaking to Larry Warren of the Liverpool Association for Anomalous Research, May said, “He [Lennon] told me that now, more than ever, he suspects that he was kidnapped when he lived in Liverpool as a child. And he realized that this was what made him feel different from other people for the rest of his life."

Lennon's obsession with UFOs continued after his encounter with the aliens. The cover of his solo album, Walls and Bridges, features an alien spaceship artwork.

Shortly after the release of the album, Lennon returned to Yoko Ono and retired from the music business for nearly five years. Almost as soon as Lennon returned to work with new ideas and an album, he was killed.
