Anila Ali, 3 months old from Pakistan, was born with a dangerous birth defect called craniosynostosis. With it, early closure of the cranial sutures and deformation of the skull occurs.

The defect occurs in about one in 2,000 newborns, but usually in forms that can be cured by surgery.

However, Anila Ali's craniosynostosis manifested itself in a very severe form and her entire brain was forced out of the cranium by pressure and placed on top of it, covered only by the skin.

No one would be surprised if a baby with such a terrible anomaly died during childbirth. The girl also had a large tumor in her spine. However, Anila miraculously survived.

When she was shown to local doctors, they were amazed and immediately began to think about how to fix her trouble. And they came to a unanimous decision that touching the brain is extremely dangerous and it is better to leave everything as it is.

For Naushaba and her husband Amad Ali, this was the first and long-awaited child. But they learned about the anomaly with the head only during the birth itself, when the mother saw the deformed head of the baby.

At the neurosurgery department of the Karachi Medical Center, Professor Raz Rizvi examined the child and said that they could operate on her back and remove the spinal tumor, but he still had nothing to say about the brain problem.

It is not yet known how Anila will be treated in the end and whether her parents will be able to pay for this operation.
