Among the Caucasian anomalous territories, the Kumtyube plateau, located in the Kabardino-Balkarian high-mountain reserve at an altitude of 3775 m above sea level, should be highlighted. The swift Chegem river flows near the plateau, originating at an altitude of 1830 m.

This anomalous zone is located in a volcanic massif composed of granites. On its border you can see a large crater of an ancient volcano with two lakes inside. Very high UFO activity was recorded in 1988-1990.

So, on September 9, 1988, between 20 and 21 o'clock, the staff of the Sevkavhydromet expedition observed five luminous balls with a diameter of 2-3 m, elongated in a chain. The distances between the balls were equal. Four hours later, several vacationers at a high-mountain camp site saw the same, apparently, five balls, but built in two "floors": three balls in the upper and 2 in the lower. A year later, a white glowing ball was photographed.

In March 1990, at about midnight, a UFO was observed in the shape of an airship, glowing with a yellow-orange light. A thin blue beam emanated from it, after which the "airship" disappeared behind the ridge. In early June of the same year, at about the same hour, a bright yellow glow in the form of a parachute with a red stripe along the edges appeared over the volcanic massif. It lasted about half an hour.

Such frequent UFO encounters prompted an expedition to the area. Seven anomalous enthusiasts arrived on the Kumtyube plateau in August 1990. On the first night, when bright stars were burning in the clear sky, a giant cap suddenly appeared over the camp, similar to a crystal sphere. He twinkled from the light of the stars. Its dimensions were approximately 1 km in diameter and 300 m in height.

Half an hour later, glowing blue pillars rose in the crater area and went into endless space. A muted silvery shimmering glow was observed to the side of the crater. At three o'clock in the morning, about 200 m from the camp along the bottom of the valley, emerald sparkling balls with a diameter of about 25 cm began to flash. A chain of 20 lights formed, after which everything suddenly went out.

One of the interesting finds were several ridge of rounded spots with a diameter of 5-7 m found on a wide terrace, on which all vegetation was destroyed. Three dark stripes, 70-100 m long and 3-3.5 m wide, diverged from one of them.

The images taken in this anomalous zone did not work out, since the films were mostly blown out. But on one film, in a frame taken one and a half kilometers below the zone, a white ball was clearly visible, which was not visually observed.
