Dolmens haunted scientists, archaeologists, local historians for two hundred years, as well as those who by nature are an inquisitive person. For the first time, stone buildings resembling houses of cards attracted the attention of researchers at the beginning of the Caucasian War of 1817-1864. True, each stone "card" could weigh five tons. In impassable natural boundaries, next to springs, waterfalls and mountain rivers, most often these structures were located on heights. The largest "scattering" of dolmens is still located at the beginning of the Caucasus Range - both on the western and eastern slopes.
The famous Russian archaeologist V. I. Markovin mentioned about 2,500 dolmens he had seen from Gelendzhik to the Georgian border, which are older than the Egyptian pyramids. There are single structures, there are whole valleys of dolmens. On the Abin River, even now, there are about 70 destroyed and preserved stone houses. In the most inaccessible place, 20 such buildings were recently counted. For some reason, some of them lack the upper slab, or rather, it seems to have been removed and leaned against the main structure.
Who, when, for what purpose created the dolmens is a mystery behind seven seals. They were found even at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico, in South America, Portugal, England, the Urals, the Far East … These are by no means tombs. If inside there were the remains of ancient people and animals, then the latter date back a thousand years later. Moreover, the animals do not approach the preserved dolmens. Birds do not fly into the hole in the central slab. Small rodents do not run inside, even in a fierce cold.
And people go to the dolmens literally in droves. Here it is false to meet representatives of various religious sects, tourists from all over the country. The most popular routes pass through the village of Pshada, Gelendzhik district, through the village of Shapsugskaya, Abinsky district. Many pilgrims claim: there is a special energy next to the megaliths.
