This story was published in the American tabloid Weekly World News in May 1992. Since this newspaper regularly published rather yellow stories about the paranormal, this article is also automatically considered fiction. Sometimes she appears in various collections about mysterious monsters, but in general she is dismissed as a recognized fake.

And nevertheless, this case is quite original for an outright forgery. Stories about the observation of huge insects are much less common than meetings with aliens, yeti, chupacabras and other monsters already familiar to all.

So, an American tabloid reported that at the beginning of 1992, one night, a huge moth with a wingspan of about ten meters burned up in the fire of a sea lighthouse in Norway, beyond the Arctic Circle, near the city of Bodø (Bodø).

Lighthouse keeper Karl Friedensen first mistook this fantastic insect for an airplane. He was struck by the swift maneuvers of the winged creature, he did not understand what was happening. The conjecture about the plane, flying in some incredible way to the lighthouse itself and literally rushing about in a wide beam of light, sometimes leaving it, was born quite naturally: could one even allow the thought of an insect or other living creature of such fantastic dimensions?

A giant moth, emerging from the darkness of the night, finally crashed into the upper part of the lighthouse. The blow was so strong that Friedensen felt as if an earthquake had begun. Being at this time at the foot of the lighthouse, he immediately began to climb the stairs.

What he saw literally shocked him: the creature, breaking the glass of a powerful searchlight, found itself on hot electrodes and almost completely burned out. Nevertheless, even his remains resembled eerie shots from horror films.

Some scientists-entomologists, who later studied the burnt tissues of the creature in their laboratory, came after numerous experiments to the unanimous conclusion that they belong to a mutant moth or, at any rate, to a giant insect with wings unknown to science.

In their opinion, the monster butterfly could have flown, most likely, only from South America, from areas that remain poorly explored to this day and which many consider to be the place where one of the passages to parallel worlds is located.
