We bring to your attention an article by Vadim Chernobrov, as a result of the 90s. explored the mysterious Ural Mountain of the Dead, where groups of 9 residents died mysteriously.
Then, as in "Komsomolskaya Pravda" there were made public our plans to go to the now infamous Mountain of the Dead, and we just pondered which version of the death of residents on its slopes should be considered as a working hypothesis and which thread of the investigation to pull, the editorial office received a call from Yekaterinburg: “Are you looking for the causes of all such deaths with Cosmopoisk? It seems we randomly identified them!"
With the caller - Lyudmila Alekseevna Zhvanko - we agree on when, how and on what we will go to Misfortune with a frighteningly scary name. There is no disagreement about the timing. Almost all of the deaths of residents there occurred at the very end of winter, and from a scientific point of view it would be more interesting to postpone the trip for several months, but the general opinion is that we will not expect, we will go immediately after the disappearance of midges and mosquitoes during Indian summer, during the calmest weather in such parts of the world … Our task was not to replenish the list of those who died on the slopes of the mountains, but as it turned out later, the choice of the timing of the trip became almost fatal …
Solid mysticism
By a strange coincidence, groups of 9 residents were killed several times in the Misfortune of the Dead. According to legend, 9 Mansi were killed here once. So, in the winter of 1959, 10 travelers gathered to climb the Mountain. However, soon one of them, an experienced hiker, felt bad (his legs ached) and he left the route. We went to the last assault with nine …
It is possible not to believe in mysticism, however, exactly 40 years later, we did not want to go there with nine of us. When counted at the Sverdlovsk railway station - 9 and it turned out. True, three almost immediately announced that they would not be able to go, and when the six of us remained, we breathed a sigh of relief. And taking advantage of several hours of time, we went to the town to meet those who knew the dead …
One of the I-x found Valeria Patrusheva, the widow of the pilot, who first noticed the bodies of the dead travelers from the air. “And you know, my husband Gennady knew them quite well while they were still alive. We met at the hotel in the village of Vizhai, where the aviators lived - the guys stopped there before the ascent. Gennady was interested in local legends a lot and therefore turned out to dissuade them - go to other mountains, but do not touch these peaks, they are translated from the Mansi language like “Don't go there” and “Mountain of 9 dead”! However, the guys were not 9, but 10, they were all experienced tourists, they walked a lot in the Northern Polar region, they did not believe in mysticism. And their leader, Igor Dyatlov, is such a strong-willed resident - Gennady even called him "die-hard", no matter how much he tried to persuade, that route did not turn out to be changed …"
Promotional video:
The hike existed as a route of the third (at that time the highest) category of difficulty with ascents to low mountains. The route is quite difficult, but very passable, nowadays many pass even more difficult routes. In general, in such situations, they say that nothing portended trouble … Forty years later, we are paddling along the Lozva River - the last road of the Dyatlov group, along which they climbed to the top. Peaceful nature around, majestic landscapes "as from a photo wallpaper" and complete silence around. You always need to remind yourself that to die among all this soporific splendor, just one mistake is enough …
… The mistake of the Dyatlovites was that they ignored the warnings and went to a forbidden place … What a mistake our group made was explained to us later by the neighboring aborigines. No, under no circumstances were we obliged to pass through the local Golden Gate - 2 powerful stone arches on top of one of the rocks. Even the burning materialists noticed a quick change in the attitude of the local deity towards us, or - if you want, easily of nature. Almost immediately, a powerful rain began to fall, which did not stop for a week (an unprecedented case, the neighboring old-timers will tell us), the rivers overflowed the banks to an incredible mark for autumn, small pieces of land under our tents began to melt catastrophically, and the raging Vladimir rapids located downstream made our evacuation easily deadly …
What terrified them to death?
Although, forty years ago, everything was seriously worse. So, Feb 1. 1959 Dyatlov's group began to climb to the top "1079", at that time unnamed. Just today everyone knows it as the Mountain of the Dead (in the Mansi language “Holat Syakhyl”) or, you guess for what reason, it is also called the Dyatlov Pass. It was here that Feb 2. (in other words - 1 Feb.) Under very mysterious circumstances, a tragedy happened … They did not have time to rise before dark, and decided to pitch the tent directly on the slope. This alone confirms that the tourists were not afraid of difficulties: at a height, without a forest cover, it is seriously colder than at the foot. They put skis on the snow, set up a tent on them in accordance with all tourist and mountaineering rules, ate … In the declassified criminal case, the conclusion remained that neither the installation of the tent, nor the gentle 15-18-degree slope itself posed a threat. According to the location of the shadows in the last photograph, the experts concluded that by 6 pm the tent was already up. They began to settle for the night … And then something terrible happened!..
… Later investigators began to establish a picture of what had happened. In panic, the tourists cut open the tent with knives and ran down the slope. Who existed in what - barefoot, in one felt boot, half-naked. The chains of footprints went in a strange zigzag, converged and diverged again, as if the inhabitants wanted to scatter, but some force again drove them together. Nobody approached the tent, there were no signs of a struggle or the presence of other residents. No signs of any natural disaster: hurricane, tornado, avalanche. At the border of the forest, the tracks disappeared, covered with snow.
Pilot G. Patrushev noticed 2 bodies from the air, made several circles over the guys, hoping that they would raise their heads. A search group that arrived in time (one of that group, now a pensioner, Sergei Antonovich Verkhovsky, we even managed to find) tried to dig snow in this place, and soon terrible finds began.
Two of the dead were lying by a poorly lit fire, stripped to their underwear. They froze, unable to move. In 300 meters from them lay the body of I. Dyatlov: he crawled to the tent and died, looking longingly in her direction. There were no injuries on the body … One more corpse was found closer to the tent. An autopsy revealed a crack in the skull, this terrible blow was inflicted without the slightest damage to the skin. He didn’t die from this, and also froze. The girl crawled closer to the tent. She lay face down, and the snow under her was stained with blood flowing from her throat. However, there are no marks on the body. Another big mystery was presented by 3 corpses found aside from the fire. They were dragged there by the still living participants of the ill-fated campaign. They died from terrible injuries: broken ribs, punctured heads, hemorrhages. However, as well as the possibility of internal damage, unaffected by the skin? By the way, in the neighborhood there are no cliffs from which it was possible to fall. The last of the dead was found nearby. His death, according to the materials of the criminal case, "came from exposure to low temperatures." In other words, I was numb. [Gershtein M. Tragedy in the mountains / "Crossroads of the Centaur" 1997, N 3 (8), pp. 1-6]. Although, not one of the put forward versions of death is still considered generally accepted. Despite numerous attempts to find an explanation for the tragic incidents, they continue to remain a mystery both for scientists of anomalous phenomena and for law enforcement agencies …Tragedy in the mountains / "Crossroads of the Centaur" 1997, N 3 (8), pp. 1-6]. We have been looking for those who performed the autopsies for a long time. Surgeon Iosif Prutkov, who performed the autopsy, has already died by now, others with whom we met (Prutkov's relatives, doctors A. P. Taranov, P. Gel, Sharonin, members of the regional commission) did not manage to recall the details. But suddenly (about miracles of knowledge!) In the train compartment met the former assistant of Prutkov, in fact the only living one of those who helped to open those corpses, Dr. Maria Ivanova Salter. She remembered those guys quite well, moreover, she remembered them still alive (she, young, at that time liked a strong stately guide). However, according to her, “there were not 9 corpses, but 11, where two more came from - I don’t know. I recognized them immediately, wearing these clothes and saw them for the last time at the bus stop. They brought them all to us, to a closed military hospital, however, one body was not even shown and was immediately taken to Sverdlovsk. Some army officer was present during the autopsy, demonstrated at me and said to Dr. Prutkov: “Why do you need her?” Prutkov existed as a very polite person, but that time immediately: “Maria Ivanovna, you can go!” non-discussion of the incident “they took me at that time without a difference. They were taken from everyone, including drivers and aviators who transported bodies … "including drivers and aviators who transported bodies … "including drivers and aviators who transported bodies …"
Other shocking details began to emerge. Former prosecutor-criminalist LN Lukin recalls: “In May, E. P. Maslennikov examined the surroundings of the incident site, found that some young Christmas trees on the border of the forest had a burnt footprint, but these footprints did not have a concentric shape or other system, there was no epicenter. This confirmed the directionality of a kind of heat ray or strong, but absolutely unknown, at least to us, energy, acting selectively, the snow was not melted, the trees were not damaged. One got the impression that when the tourists walked more than five hundred meters down the mountain on their own feet, some of them were dealt with in a directed manner …"
Rocket version
Scientists have crawled stubborn speculation that a group of tourists was simply removed due to the fact that people became unwitting witnesses to the tests of secret weapons. The skin of the deceased had, according to the assurances of the search engines, "an unnatural orange or purple color." And criminologists like because of this strange color would be at a dead end: they knew that even a month. being under the snow cannot color the skin so … However, as we learned from M. Salter, in reality the skin "was just black, like the usual corpses."
Who and why in their stories "painted" the corpses? If the skin were orange, it would not be excluded that the guys were poisoned by the rocket fuel asymmetric dimethyl hydrazine (orange heptyl). And the rocket, like, could deviate from the course and fall (fly) nearby.
New proof of the rocket version emerged relatively recently, when a strange 30-centimeter ring was found in the area of the death of Dyatlov's group. As it turned out, belonging to a Soviet military missile. Dialogues about secret trials have surfaced again. Local researcher Rimma Aleksandrovna Pechurkina, who works for the Yekaterinburg Oblastnaya Gazeta newspaper, remembered that the search groups had been twice, Feb 17. and 31 mar. 1959, watched flying through the sky "either rockets or UFOs." With a request to find out if these objects were missiles, she turned to Kosmopoisk in April 1999. And after examining the archives, it was possible to determine that in the USSR there were no launches of the IZS in those days. Feb 17. 1959 The United States launched the solid-propellant Avangard-2, but in Siberia they could not follow this start. Mar 31 1959 R-7 was launched from Baikonur, launch failed. Launches from Plesetsk have been carried out since 1960, construction has been carried out since 1957, in theory from Plesetsk in 1959 they had the opportunity to produce only test launches of R-7. However, this rocket could not have toxic propellants.
There was one more fact in favor of the rocket theory - to the south of the Mountain, modern tourists have come across several deep craters "obviously from missiles." With great difficulty, in the deep taiga, we found 2 of them and, as we could, investigated. They obviously did not pull under the rocket explosion of the 59th, a birch tree grew in the funnel 55 years old (counted in rings), then there is an explosion rumbled in the remote taiga rear not later in 1944 … Remembering what city it was, it would be possible to write off everything on training bombing or something like that, however … the funnel, we made an unpleasant discovery with the help of a radiometer, wide phonil.
Radioactive bombs in 1944? What nonsense … and bombs?
Radioactive trace
Forensic scientist LN Lukin recalls what surprised him the most in 1959: “When with the regional prosecutor. I reported the strata data to the 1st secretary of the regional committee of the CPSU A. S. Kirilenko, who gave a clear command - to classify all the work. Kirilenko ordered to bury the tourists in boarded up coffins and tell his family that everyone died of hypothermia. I have conducted extensive studies of clothing and individual organs of the deceased "for radiation". For comparison, we took the clothes and internal organs of people who died in car accidents or died by natural causes. The results were amazing …"
From the expert conclusions: “The investigated samples of clothing contain a slightly overestimated amount of radioactive substance due to beta radiation. The detected radioactive substances are washed off when the samples are washed, then they are caused not by the neutron flux and induced radioactivity, but by radioactive contamination."
Protocol of additional interrogation of an expert from the Sverdlovsk city SES:
Question: Could there be an increased contamination of clothing with radioactive substances in normal conditions, without being in a radioactive contaminated zone or place?
Reaction: It shouldn't be absolutely….
Question: Is it possible to assume that these clothes are contaminated with radioactive dust?
Reaction: Yes, the clothes are contaminated with either radioactive dust that has fallen out of the atmosphere, or these clothes have been contaminated with radioactive substances.
Where did radioactive dust come from on the dead? At that time, there were no nuclear tests in the atmosphere on the territory of the Russian Federation. The last explosion before this tragedy rumbled on October 25. 1958 on Novaya Zemlya. Was this area at that time covered with radioactive dust from previous tests? This is not excluded. Moreover, Lukin took a Geiger counter to the place of the death of tourists, and he "called such a fraction" there …
Or maybe the traces of radioactivity are not related to the death of tourists? After all, radiation will not kill in a few hours. and even less will he kick people out of the tent! But then what?
In attempts to explain the death of nine laboratory hikers, the most different versions have been put forward - from ball lightning flying into the tent to the destructive impact of a technogenic factor. One of the assumptions is that the guys entered the area where the secret tests of the "vacuum weapon" were carried out (this version was reported to us by the local historian Oleg Viktorovich Shtraukh). From her, the dead were noted (as if existing) a strange reddish tint of the skin, the existence of internal bleeding and damage. The same symptoms must be observed when a "vacuum bomb" is struck, which creates a strong vacuum over a vast territory. At the periphery, similar areas in a person burst blood vessels from internal pressure, and at the epicenter the body is torn to pieces.
For some time, local Hansi were under suspicion, who, sometime in the 1930s, had already killed a woman geologist who dared to enter the sacred mountain closed to mere mortals. The masses of taiga hunters were arrested, however … all were released for lack of evidence of guilt. Moreover, the mysterious incidents in the restricted area continued …
The harvest of death continues
Very soon after the death of the Dyatlov group under mysterious circumstances (which asserts in favor of the version of the involvement of the special services in the incident), the photographer Yuri Yarovoy, who was filming the bodies of the dead, died in a car accident later with his wife … Patrusheva, unwittingly got into the study of this whole story …
In February 1961, in the region of the same Mountain of the Dead, in an anomalous place and again under similar more than strange circumstances, another group of tourists-scientists from Leningrad perished. And again, as if there were the same features of an incomprehensible fear: tents cut from the inside, thrown things, people scattering to the sides, and again all 9 dead with grimaces of horror on their faces, only this time the corpses lie neatly around, in the center of which is the tent … Although, so the rumor goes, but no one remembered how much we did not specifically ask the locals about that case. There was no confirmation in the official bodies either. Either they exist, or the St. Petersburg group was “cleaned out” more thoroughly than the Sverdlovsk one, or it was invented from the very beginning only on paper. As well as another group of 3 people who supposedly died here …
Min once again in the history of the Mountain, an indication of 9 corpses emerges, which is confirmed by documents. In 1960-61. in the ill-fated region 1, after another in 3 air crashes, only 9 people of aviators and geologists are killed. Unusual coincidences at a place named in memory of 9 deceased Mansi. The last living pilot from those who was looking for Dyatlovites was G. Patrushev. Both he and his young lady were sure that very soon he would not return from the flight. “He was widely nervous,” V. Patrusheva asserts to us, “He was an absolute teetotaler, but once I saw him pale from everything he had experienced, drank a bottle of vodka in one gulp and did not even get drunk. The last time he flew away, we both knew it was the last time. He began to fear flying, but always - if there was enough fuel - he stubbornly flew to the Misfortune of the Dead. I wanted to find a clue …"
Although, some others who died under strange circumstances were here. Local authorities remember how long in the 1970s. searched for and did not find the missing young geologist, tk. he was the son of an important ministerial rank, they were looking for him with particular passion. However, it would have been possible not to create this - he disappeared as a whole, almost in front of his colleagues, virtually out of the blue … Since that moment there have been many missing. When we ourselves are in Sept. 1999 were in the regional center Ivdel, there is already a month. how they were looking for a missing married couple …
Traces lead to the sky
The investigation back then, in the 1950s, was engaged in particular with the version related, as they would say, with the UFO problem. The fact is that during the search for the dead, colorful pictures unfolded over the heads of the rescuers, orange balls and shining clouds flew by. No one understood what it was, and therefore the fantastic celestial phenomena seemed terrible …
Telephone message to the Sverdlovsk City Party Committee: “Mar 31. 59th, 9.30 am local time. On 31.03 at 04.00 in the southeast direction the duty officer Meshcheryakov noticed a large ring of fire, which for 20 minutes. moved towards us, hiding after the height of 880. Before disappearing behind the horizon, a star arose from the center of the ring, which gradually increased to the size of the Moon, began to fall down, separating from the ring. The non-standard phenomenon was watched by many people raised on alarm. Please give an explanation of this phenomenon and its safety, since in our conditions it makes a disturbing impression. Avenburg. Potapov. Sogrin."
LN Lukin reports: “While the investigation was going on, a tiny note appeared in the newspaper Tagilskiy Rabochy that a flame ball was seen in the sky of Nizhniy Tagil, or, as they now say, a UFO. This luminous object moved silently towards the northern peaks of the Ural Mountains. For the publication of such a note, the editor of the newspaper was sentenced to a penalty, and in the regional committee I was offered not to develop this topic”…
To be honest, we ourselves are in the sky over the Mountain, and on the way to Vizhay and Ivdel, we did not see anything mysterious in the sky. This is probably why the sky was just covered with impenetrable clouds. Both the rain and the flood of a regional scale stopped only when we barely got out through the rapids on a catamaran rattling at the seams. Later, when we were already in the Perm region making our way through the taiga, the Lord of the Golden Gate made us understand that he forgives and lets go to the end - the local bear simply took us to our own watering hole, just at that moment when our own water supplies ran out …
Surely, all this is nothing more than an accident. And all the terrible incidents in the Misfortune of the Dead are just a chain of accidents. We did not disclose the cause of the tourists' death, however, we realized that the missile launches had absolutely nothing to do with this …
Already from Moscow, I called the pilot's widow to understand why Patrushev voluntarily headed towards the Mountain even when he was afraid to fly? “He said that something seemed to beckon him. Often I met glowing balls in the air, and then the plane began to shake, the instruments danced like crazy, and my head would just split. Then he turned aside. Later flew again. He told me that he is not afraid of stopping the engine if something lands the car even on a pole … According to the official version, the pilot G. Patrushev died 65 km north of Ivdel when he made an emergency landing …
