The Red Planet continues to amaze us with its riddles. The community of researchers analyzing Martian images, which are regularly published on the official NASA websites, recently discovered another strange artifact that leaves no doubt about its artificiality.

The photograph, codenamed "Sol 3720" (the original is located here) clearly shows a circular structure reminiscent of a Maltese cross. Photo taken by Mars Rover Opportunity.

I spent several hours studying the archives of the NASA website, which published this image. As it turned out, the macro photography camera installed on board the Opportunity took 5 images of this unusual structure with different sharpness and exposure, this can be seen from the change in the contrast of the photos. Unfortunately, the site does not provide the technical characteristics of the photograph, so there is no way to accurately determine the size of this "cross".

Note that this is not the only photograph that raises questions. After analyzing several hundred photographs, I found about a dozen strange photo shoots, which captured structures very similar to earthly fossils. There is no information in the official press releases from NASA regarding these photos. You can also see that some of the photo sessions are simply not published, since there are gaps of 100-200 photos between some of the photos (each of which is numbered). Some shots are clearly retouched, others are simply superimposed with dark squares, covering some objects. Below I give one of the many photographs I have found, on which I would like to receive advice and explanations from scientists.
