February 2, 1970 was a very unusual day for the pilots of the 71st fighter-interceptor squadron of the United States Air Force. The pilots who served at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana faced a startling phenomenon that defies rational explanation.

Pilot Gary Faust, who was practicing air combat maneuvers at an altitude of twelve and a half kilometers, suddenly entered a flat spin. The military tried to regain control of the single-seat supersonic aircraft "Convair F-106 Delta Dart" and even opened the fighter's parachute, but to no avail. The car fell inexorably down, and at an altitude of about four and a half kilometers, Faust ejected. The situation, of course, is abnormal, but, it would seem, nothing supernatural. But listen to what happened next.

Mystical plane

When the pilot ejected, the plane suddenly resolutely lowered its nose and easily got out of the spin. According to the official version, this was facilitated by a sharp decrease in the weight of the fighter, a jet of pressure from a catapult, a shift in the center of gravity and other aerodynamic tricks. However, many eyewitnesses of this phenomenal phenomenon came up with the idea that there was a real ghost in the car, masterfully controlling the steering wheel.

The story did not end there. Gary Faust, who landed in the snowy open spaces of February, was quickly rescued by the Indians. As for his aircraft, the latter lived its life for some time, shocking the military and the police to the core. At a speed of one hundred and seventy-five knots, the plane flew towards the vast farmlands. After some time, the device made a turn and perfectly landed on one of the bean fields, without having a pilot in the cockpit. Sitting down, the empty Convair F-106 Delta Dart even deftly passed a wall that an inexperienced pilot at the helm could easily demolish.

The farmer who owned the land immediately called the police and said that he was attacked by fighters. The local sheriff, of course, did not really believe it, but nevertheless he went to the call with his people. Law enforcement officers were amazed when they saw a military aircraft with an engine still running in a snowy field. The pilot and his seat were not in the cockpit, but the instruments were winking animatedly with lights, and the radar continued to scan the area.

As if not wanting to fall into the hands of people, the plane suddenly made a sharp dash, but only got stuck in deep snow. The sheriff began ringing up all the higher authorities, and the information quickly reached the airbase. At the same time, the fighter continued to make attempts to escape - the snow melted under it from time to time, and the car made more and more leaps forward, invariably scaring people away. However, two hours later the plane ran out of fuel, and he "surrendered to the authorities."

The independent "Convair F-106 Delta Dart" was repaired, and it flew for another sixteen years, albeit without any mystical accidents. Apparently the point here is not in the plane itself, but in a possible ghost, which then moved into it. Today, the mystical fighter is in one of the hangars of the US Air Force National Museum.
