The National Aerospace Agency of the United States of America is thinking about the energy supply for future Martian missions. Thinking - and created a nuclear reactor designed for operation in the conditions of the Red Planet.

More precisely, they have not created, but are still only creating. However, by the end of this year, the day will come when NASA specialists will test the new power plant. Meanwhile, you can get acquainted with the Martian reactor using a video posted on the agency's official website (see video below).

“The power plant for Mars is a product that combines a nuclear reactor, a Sterling engine and an alternator. Uranium-235 is used as the base fuel. One such installation can generate ten kilowatts of electrical energy over ten years - in a completely continuous mode, of course,”- said representatives of NASA.

The reactor will be tested at a special test site located in the Nevada desert. If everything goes according to plan, then such installations will fly to Mars, and will also be used in upcoming lunar missions.
