The resources of the human brain are enough to be quite successful with three hands. This conclusion was made by scientists from Japan, who confirmed their assumptions based on the results of an experiment with a robotic prosthesis connected to volunteers via a neurointerface.

It turned out that people can control their own two hands, as well as a third robotic arm, which is controlled through a neural interface. This, according to Science Robotics, can be used to empower humans.

“People sometimes say something like: 'Now, if I had a third hand, then I would cope with some task faster!' Yesterday this desire was unrealizable, but today we seem to be approaching something similar. The brain, at least, has the groundwork for a person to be able to operate with three hands,”says Shuichi Nishio, an employee of the International Telecommunications Research Institute.

An experiment (see video below) carried out by scientists has shown that a third artificial hand can indeed enhance human multitasking. Now all that remains is to wait for the appearance of accessible and functional third hands.
