For the first time, Russian scientists have created an anti-relapse treatment, a molecule that blocks the pleasure of taking heroin, morphine and desomorphine. This was reported by Izvestia.

The introduction of the drug into the blood leads to the fact that the body begins to produce antibodies that prevent drugs from entering the brain. As a result, a person does not get pleasure from taking a chemical agent.

The creation of a new drug is carried out by a Russian group of scientists, headed by Marina Myagkova, head of the laboratory of the Institute of Physiologically Active Substances of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Treatment of drug addiction with a new drug, according to the publication, will take up to two years. Preclinical studies of the promising compound in animals will begin in 2017, after which the effectiveness of the drug will begin to be tested in humans. By 2023, the drug may become the basis for the first Russian drug for drug addiction.

Currently, foreign drugs are mainly used for the treatment of drug addiction, primarily American naltrexone, as well as psychotherapy. In Russia today there are about 600 thousand registered drug addicts, unofficial estimates increase this number to five to seven million.
