American scientists believe that the mysterious Planet X, revealed in January behind Pluto, has a deep blue color in the optical range, arXiv.org reports.

In mid-January, astrophysicists from the United States issued a sensational statement: the solar system has nine planets, not eight, as was believed since the beginning of observations of the starry sky. According to a number of signs, scientists have established that the ninth planet, named Planet X, is located beyond the orbit of Pluto, and the period of its complete orbit around the Sun is about 15 thousand Earth years.

Astronomers initially assumed that the surface of Planet X was colored red. But with a detailed study of the information available about the "ninth" planet and computer modeling, scientists came to the conclusion that the surface of a cosmic body is covered with a film of condensed methane, therefore, in the optical range of Planet X it has a dark blue color, and the space object itself is very similar in its characteristics with Uranus and Neptune. According to astronomers, the radius of Planet X is 3-6 times that of the Earth, and the weight is 5-20 times that of the Earth.
