Astrophysicists from the United States conducted research to find out the number of exoplanets in the Universe on which the emergence and existence of a highly developed civilization is possible. According to scientists, the probability of the emergence of an intelligent world in the Universe is ten to minus 12 degrees.
Experts used in their calculations modified equations of Francis Drake when taking into account exoplanets, which are known today. As a result of calculations, scientists have found that if we assume that our world is not alone in the Universe, and the likelihood of the emergence of reason on one of the exoplanets is ten to minus 12 degrees, then we can come to the conclusion that in addition to our civilization in the Universe there may be about ten billion separate civilizations.
At the same time, as the scientists themselves note, the calculations do not take into account the lifetime of these civilizations.
Summing up, we can say that at the moment the Earth is the only planet of its kind in the Milky Way, which is inhabited by intelligent beings, since the old worlds are probably already extinct, and new ones may well arise only after the disappearance of the human race.
