It would seem that scientific progress in the field of physiology and the functioning of the human psyche and the limits of its capabilities has advanced so far that there is nothing to surprise, but this is not so.

Every time science is faced with facts about the phenomena encountered, which go beyond our ideas about human nature and its boundaries, and testify in favor of insufficient knowledge of our resources. This, one might say, metaphysical will to live is evidenced by the story of a little Jewish boy, originally from France - Moshe Pirou, whose entire family, including his mother, his younger brother and sister, was captured by the German invaders during the Second World War. After spending 2 years in prison - from nine to eleven years, he was convoyed to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. From that moment on, he lost track of his mother, who ended up in Auschwitz.

Perhaps we would not have known anything about Moshe and the tragedy that happened to his family, if not for the phenomenal will to live, which saved the little hero. He was repeatedly sent to the gas chamber to certain death. Incredibly, Pir survived six times in the gas chamber. He survived having been in the real hell, and the memories of this terrible tragedy, which he miraculously managed to survive, forever engraved in his memory.

In his message to the world community, Moshe Piru declared that this should not happen again and the world should not give its tacit consent to such atrocities. Here are his words: "Nobody told the Germans that all this should not be done - they had the tacit consent of the world."
