"The tragedy at the Dyatlov pass is explained by a failure in the system." Farmer Sergei Baklykov believes that it is time for the secret departments to dispel myths around the death of a tourist group.

The death of nine skiers who went on a campaign in the Northern Urals in February 1959 is explained by the action of a spontaneous force, but the strange circumstances of the incident gave rise to other versions. Farmer Sergei Baklykov, who started his career at a defense enterprise, assures that exotic hypotheses have nothing to do with it. It was much easier.

- In 1977 I was demobilized from the army and got a job at one of the enterprises - "mailboxes" - there were plenty of them in Sverdlovsk. He worked as an electromechanic in the repair of computers, including servicing punchers - devices that record information using holes that they punch in punched cards or punched tape. A year later, we had an unpleasant incident - the manufacturers of punched tape planted an oil stain on paper through which electric light passed. The reader mistook this point of oil for a hole. And the automatics, without hesitation, made the same hole on the duplicate punched tape, from where the program was loaded directly into the product (rocket). What kind of missile it was, I do not know - they did not share strategic information with us. When comparing both punched tapes, an extra hole was not found.

So that's it. Due to the oil slick, the rocket left its trajectory, and it had to be destroyed over a deserted area so that it would not fly away somewhere to Salekhard. The situation was abnormal, although not this happens when testing weapons. The incident was thoroughly investigated. Questions were also asked to the management of our department, but they did not find the fault of the employees, since we did not have the task of looking through the entire punched tape.

When the proceedings were over, the people gathered in the smoking room to discuss everything again.

And one of the electromechanics, who worked in the mailbox for many years, recalled that the same incident happened in February 1959 - a missile deviated from the intended course was eliminated over the territory, which was then called the Dyatlov Pass.

“After all, there was no information that people could be there,” he explained. - In winter, there are no reindeer herders on the pass, and the nearest settlement of Mansi was a hundred kilometers away. When the rocket was given a signal to self-destruct, no one knew how it would end. Our leaders, who were also in the smoking room, did not object, and I realized that it was not a secret for them. Then people dispersed to their jobs and never returned to this topic.

The prosecutor of the Sverdlovsk region, who terminated the criminal case related to the death of the Dyatlov group, wrote in the resolution (the text can be found on the Internet): "The cause of the death of the tourists was a spontaneous force, which they were unable to overcome." The version of the death of tourists associated with the testing of weapons - missiles or bombs - was named among others, but we do not know whether the investigation considered it seriously.

Why am I telling all this?

Definitely not out of a desire to reveal a secret.

Already because there is no special secret here - that a missile was blown up over the Dyatlov Pass is known to the military, secret services, and employees of the defense enterprise.

Even people far from the defense industry believe that this is the only explanation. The situation is exactly the same as with the anthrax virus leak - everyone knows that it was, but there is no official confirmation, except for Boris Yeltsin's interview with the newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda. And in fact, and in another case, we are talking about a system error, because of which people died.

I think the competent departments could tell how it all happened - there was not a single reason to remain silent.

The participants in the events associated with the Dyatlov Pass are already retired, if they are alive at all, and the story itself took place in the Soviet Union, which no longer exists. But the death of tourists continues to grow into myths. Every now and then, new versions appear, explaining why the group members suddenly left the tent and tried to flee. One of the latest hypotheses calls infrasound as a source of negative impact, which has generated fear and panic in people. According to another version, the members of the group suffered from low-frequency pressure drops caused by air vortices.

None of the explanations, be it an invasion of aliens, a meeting of tourists with a Bigfoot, revenge of the Mansi representatives to strangers for appearing in a holy place, etc., can never be verified. One can only assess the degree of their reliability.

And information about the rocket that went off course has probably survived. It is possible that someday - in 50 or 100 years - this information will become available.

But then it is unlikely to interest anyone.
