One of the most mysterious and terrible anomalies in Russia - the Cherepovets swamps - is located not far from the Russian city of Cherepovets. These seemingly natural and unremarkable bodies of water gave rise to a lot of legends and beliefs. People believe that the strongest spirit or ghost lives in these swamps, which likes to drive people to suicide. In the Cherepovets bogs, men, women and children are often drowned, for whom no mental abnormalities were previously noticed. Near swamps, a morally and physically healthy person can easily lose his mind.
The depth of the Cherepovets bogs in some areas reaches five meters. Therefore, it is more correct to call water bodies heavily overgrown lakes. The Cherepovets anomaly consists of water bodies of various sizes and depths. The most famous of them, which are notorious, are lakes Ivachevskoe and Pustynnoe.
At first glance, the Cherepovets bogs are no different from others that are found throughout Russia in large numbers. The Cherepovets reservoirs acquired a bad reputation almost immediately after people learned about them. If only legends are associated with the rest of the anomalies, then official statements to the police and other authorities are associated with these swamps. People commit suicide in that area several times more often than in any other similar area. Almost every local resident has a certificate from a psychiatric clinic with a diagnosis of manic-depressive psychosis. They claim that there is a real sinister spirit in the swamps, from which it is impossible to get rid of.
The teacher's story about the Cherepovets swamps, found in his diary
This story is dated 1850. A local teacher left in his diary short notes about what he observed near the Cherepovets swamps. Suddenly, these recordings begin to break off, as if something unrealistically scared their author. The author claims that the spirit of the swamps “howls”, inviting victims into their nets. This ghost is insatiable, if once you get to it, it is impossible to return back. It pursues, inspires, breaks the psyche, is heard in a voice in the head. He dominates and silences.
This is how the school teacher spoke of the swamp spirit. Often, people of such professions do not know how to fantasize. They are strict, disciplined and responsible. It is not typical for them to lie, therefore experts recognized the teacher's words as worthy of attention.

In addition to all of the above, the teacher wrote that his father supposedly hears the swamp, even if he is far from him. A swamp sucks out strength, breaks the psyche and soul, dominates thoughts and reason. It gradually makes you obey, after which a person can no longer control himself.
As a result, the teacher's father went crazy and tried to move away from the mysterious swamps. His son followed him, but the family could not live long in another city. A couple of years later, the son and father returned to their homelands, claiming that "the swamp spirit will find it everywhere, it is impossible to resist it, it makes you return."
In his diary, the school teacher often mentioned that the forests around the Cherepovets bogs are very stingy with berries and mushrooms. Animals do not live in them, medicinal herbs do not grow, birds do not fly.
30 years later
In 1879, the physician Pavel Gryaznov settled in these places. He also left several written records of events associated with the swamp spirit. Gryaznov became interested in the swamps after he heard the story of a merchant who disappeared and returned to these swamps sometime.
The merchant, as it turned out, driving through the swamps, was very frightened of something and ran away, leaving all the personal belongings that he had with him. A few years later, something made him return to the swamps. When he returned, he said that some terrible forces pushed him to the edge of a muddy reservoir. He did not control himself at all, but he understood what could happen to him. Fortunately, his instinct of self-preservation worked in time, which made him flee from the place of possible death. He also said that there were carts filled with various types of goods and abandoned near the swamp. The merchant only later realized where their owners had gone, since he himself almost became a victim of an ominous reservoir.
Local residents did not believe the merchant's stories and decided to independently check the information. When they reached the swamp, they really saw the carts described by the shocked rich man, but people did not manage to take their contents. Suddenly all of them were seized by the strongest fear, after which they fled in different directions. Some got lost in the forest and did not return home. Others then flatly found themselves returning to the swamps, proving that evil spirits are found in them.
The following is also known: footprints leading to water were found near carts. Initially, people thought that a gang of robbers was operating in the forest, which was destroying merchants. But they were forced to abandon this version by traces that did not indicate resistance. Those who left them calmly walked towards the water, without resisting, and therefore on their own.
Gryaznov decided to take samples of peat from the swamp in order to take them to the laboratory for analysis. Later, he said that while the peat was with him, he suffered from a terrible headache, which nothing could muffle. The analyzes were carried out in St. Petersburg. Soon the answer came from the laboratory. It turned out that in the swamp mud from the Cherepovets reservoirs, something strange really lives - living microorganisms previously unknown to science, very complex and highly organized. In the past, laboratory assistants did not encounter such creatures, so they did not explain anything else.
The nightmare will never end
One of the residents of Cherepovets, S. Perfilyev, wrote in 1905 that the locals had only two options: to drown in the swamps or try to leave here. He argued that it is not a mental disorder that affects the locals, but something more complex and material. Almost every local was recognized as mentally ill, since sooner or later he closed in on himself, often began to drink and compose fables. As you know, in every fairy tale there is a grain of truth, but no one listened to the mentally ill.
Most of the eyewitnesses-victims said that the swamps live their own lives, the water in them behaves like a living being, subjugates those around it. The people affected by it become addicted, aggressive, depressive and forever acquire an invisible connection with abnormal bodies of water.
The head of one of the Russian ufological organizations recently found and presented a description of a mysterious incident that occurred in the Cherepovets swamps in 1911. That year, the son of a local shoemaker went to the pier near the swamp, fell and began banging his head against the stones until he broke his skull. It is known that before he did not suffer from epilepsy (it was this ailment that was thought of in the first place). Before his death, the young guy said:
Filthy fetid abyss. I’m going there because there’s a knock from below.
What the guy's dying words meant, no one understood. Forensic experts drew up a conclusion: suicide is a consequence of mental disorder.
What is the cause of the anomaly: a ghost or an unusual composition of local water

If the reservoir is located in a geopathogenic zone, then too powerful negative energy impact will be exerted on the water. After such an influence, the water itself will become negatively charged. She begins to have a destructive effect on people, charging them with her negative energy. In addition, it is known that bog water has a chaotic structure, and clean water (for example, from mountain streams) has a calm, geometrically correct structure. This theory, of course, looks fantastic, but it may well be real. It turns out that the Cherepovets swamps accumulated negative energy for centuries, after which they gave it to people, making them go crazy. If we consider this hypothesis correct, then everything that happens can be explained. It is much easier to believe in the above than in the legends about the swamp ghost that supposedly lives in the Cherepovets swamps.
