Fishermen photographed their strange catch. Length 10 cm.

There are piranhas in the Dnieper! This rumor instantly spread across the Kiev fishermen. "Lucky", on whose hook a toothy exotic monster fell, still cannot believe that he has caught a predator

- She has such teeth, do you understand ?! He says excitedly. It could be attributed to fishing tales, but Andrey (33 years old) photographed his catch.

One morning Andrey and his friend went to the Obolonsky Bay to go fishing. Everything was as usual - they came to their place, laid out the tackle, threw their fishing rods and began to wait. It bites! Andrey pulls out the prey. A strange fish about 10 cm in length wriggles on the hook. The men looked closely and were stunned!

“The mouth was closed, but we suspected by sight that it was a piranha. It was scary even to take it off the hook, it seemed: now how to snatch! - the fisherman admits. Still would! After all, adult predatory inhabitants of the Amazon can easily bite off a finger!

The men did not dare to look into the piranha's jaws right on the spot. Carefully removed from the hook, taken home and frozen.

“The next day we brought frozen piranha to work,” says Andrey. - And then already examined her teeth. My blood froze in my veins when I saw two rows of closing fangs, which are one on top of the other. Employees immediately came running, and almost all of them have been fishing since childhood. The guys were shocked! Everyone recognized that this is a real piranha, as shown on TV.

BLIK sent a photo of the fish to the experts. Nikolai Schepets, head of the Kiev city organization for the protection of nature, recognized the fish as a tropical predator.

- By the structure of the body and fins, as well as by the silvery-bluish color, this fish is really very similar to the piranha.

But the zoologist Aleksey Vasilyuk has never seen such a fish in his life and believes that this is a real mutation!

But the worst thing, it turned out that if a predator is a piranha, it can live in the Dnieper, where we all swim.

“Piranha can theoretically live in our river, but only in summer, when the water temperature is high,” says Igor Sheremetyev, aquarist and specialist in exotic fish. - The lowest temperature in which it can live is 15 degrees. It is very likely to meet a piranha with us, but only on condition that someone specially launched it there. By the way, very dangerous subspecies of piranhas can be imported across the border, because no one controls it here. But in our conditions, she is unlikely to attack. Although I would not recommend sticking a finger in her mouth. Scary!

Let us remind you that this is not the first case when “toothed” predators have been found in Ukraine. We already wrote that near Dnepropetrovsk in the Kosyanka lake, fishermen found 5 unseen fish with terrible teeth, like a piranha. When they got the catch, the bloodthirsty predator bit the palm of one of the fishermen, and the finger of the other. Specialists were immediately called in. And the worst assumptions came true! It was a real predatory Amazonian piranha, and the most dangerous species was the natteter (red piranha)! For a very long time after that, the inhabitants of Berezanovka did not dare to swim in the mysterious lake. After all, it is still not clear where these "toothed" creatures in the Ukrainian lake came from?
