According to the materials of the report of specialists working in the field of space medicine, the process of colonization of the Red Planet can be significantly extended in time.

Experts call the main reason the presence of some deadly dust, which contains an abundant amount of perchloric acid salts - perchlorates. The ingestion of particles of such dust into the human body can create problems with the thyroid gland in the first colonists and astronauts.

In addition to this misfortune, there is also gypsum, also found in large quantities on Mars. Particles of gypsum dust, as biologists say, when they enter the lungs of a person, contribute to the appearance of serious diseases.

Such an interesting report of specialists attracts public attention also by the fact that it came out with a short interval after the announcement of Mars One, which announced the start of active sales of tickets to Mars to everyone.

In total, the company currently has about 78,000 applications for a one-way ticket.

Recall that a hitherto little-known company from the Netherlands Mars One calls on citizens to vote for the conquest of Mars. If successful, Dutch entrepreneurs promise to lay the first stone of a future colony on Mars in 2016, and to settle the first emigrants in it in 2023.

We are talking specifically about emigration, because the return of the colonists to their home planet has not yet been provided for either by existing technologies or by the project budget. The costs are tentatively estimated at $ 6 billion, and it is planned to collect most of this amount with the help of television broadcasts of all stages of the project both from Earth and from Mars.

It is difficult to understand what exactly Mars One is: whether the most ambitious private space venture in history, or the unprecedented audacity of PR of another reality show. The list of protagonists only thickens the fog.

CEO Bas Lansdorp is a graduate engineer and creator of Ampyx Power, a company that promotes the technology of converting wind energy into electricity using a climbing and dive glider. Bass knows a lot about ventures, but his early projects are much less ambitious than the resettlement of mankind to Mars. Nevertheless, he has already enlisted the support of the largest aerospace companies in the world.
