Farmers in China have caught a huge rodent, which they believe is a rat. The animal terrorized the villagers and devoured the fish whole, eyewitnesses say. The hunters tried to butcher the 5 kg rodent to eat, but broke two knives on its thick skin and strong bones.
The monstrous animal, weighing ten times the weight of an average rat, was first seen near a pond in Shenyang Village, Hunan Province, where it caught a 3-kg fish. Locals saw how a huge rodent caught a large fish, and having pulled it ashore, swallowed it whole.
Local farmers have decided to join forces in an attempt to catch the beast that has brought fear to the villagers. After several days of hunting, the men managed to drive the giant rat into a trap and then kill it with an improvised weapon.
