Bioengineers have developed a new type of soybean that will be able to produce 50% more crops than is currently available. Scientists also note that in 2050, new soybeans will help to cope with hunger in the world, as by that time the population and carbon dioxide in the Earth's atmosphere are expected to grow.
The study was conducted by specialists from the United States of America. The three-year experiment was published in the Journal of Experimental Botany. The news portal "Bagnet" also writes about this.
During tests of the new modified plant crop, it turned out that it is capable of producing a good yield even under conditions of high temperature and increased concentration of carbon dioxide.
One of the research participants, Carla Bernacci, believes that such work in genetic engineering should give a new impetus to the development of reliable food that will be able to feed large numbers of people on the planet in the future.
