On August 15, 1663, in the Belozersk district, in broad daylight, peasants and monks saw something, an explanation for which has not yet been given. The phenomenon, called "Robozero miracle", is considered the first documentary report of a UFO sighting in Russia.
Officially, the history of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) begins in 1947, when the American Ken Arnold, flying on a private jet near Washington, saw and described nine shiny disks that moved next to him at incredible speed.
Several similar encounters in the late 1940s sparked the UFO boom. In our time, this hype has subsided, but nevertheless, evidence of unusual objects, as well as "visits" by aliens, continues to flow. True, they are now treating such reports with a fair amount of skepticism.
PEOPLE IN WHITE
In fact, it is not known for certain when the Russians first "got acquainted" with aliens and UFOs. The site kramola.info, for example, cites the case described in the chronicle, which is allegedly stored in the archives of Kazan University, as the first evidence.
In the first half of the 17th century, a certain serf named Yashka once met in the forest "an extremely strange man in white clothes."
The stranger seemed to have invited Yashka to “fly to heaven,” and he, out of curiosity, agreed, since he was promised that he would then be returned to earth. After that, they soared into the sky in a big shiny "copper cauldron", where they connected (now we would say: docked) with "a huge white house, very clean inside." In this “house” Yashka was taught “various sciences and great magic”. Then, in the same "cauldron" he was returned to earth, having presented "three magic coins" as a keepsake.

But it still looks more like a story or a hoax, not a document. Is there any more serious evidence?
There is. And traces lead to the Vologda region.
CONSEQUENCE BY RZHEVSKY
The fourth volume of "Historical Acts, Collected and Published by the Archaeographic Commission", published in St. Petersburg in 1842, was the first to publish an interesting document kept in the St. Petersburg branch of the Institute of History. Today this paper would be called a memo. An employee of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery Ivashko Rzhevsky, according to the peasant Levka Fedorov, informs the authorities about an extraordinary event that took place on August 15, 1663 in the Robozerskaya volost of the Belozersky district.
Here is a fragment of this opus: “There was a great noise, and many people came out of the church to the porch, and he de Leuka stood right there on the porch and saw God's visit: to the winter side, from the light of heaven, but a great fire came out of the cloud towards Robozero and walked at noon, along the lake above the water, in all directions, twenty or more fathoms, but the side of that flame was blue smoke, and in front of it twenty or two fiery rays were fathoms … That fire stood over the water by Robozer for an hour and a half, and the lake is two versts along, and a verst across; the peasants were riding in a boat, and from that fire it scorched with flame, did not let it near …"
And so on in the same outlandish expressions.
The journalist Yuri Roscius, who became interested in this phenomenon, who published a detailed article about it in the journal Znanie is Sila in 1970, describes what happened: “On August 15, 1663, between 10 and 12 noon local time, a loud noise was heard, and from the north from from a clear sky, a huge flaming object with a diameter of at least 40 meters (that is, a height of a twelve-story building!) appeared, which, moving southward, began to slide over the surface of Robozer.
Once over the lake, the body suddenly disappeared, and then reappeared, but already 0.5 km south-west of the place where it disappeared, and soon disappeared again. Finally, it appeared for the third time at a distance of 0.5 km west of the last place and, having faded, disappeared altogether. The peasants who tried to approach him by boat failed: they were driven away by a strong heat. The bottom of the lake was illuminated to a depth of 8 meters. From the front of the UFO, it released two bright beams, and blue smoke poured down its sides. The total duration of body observation was one and a half hours.
WHAT WAS IT?
In the aforementioned "Acts of Historical …" the document is placed under the heading "Transcripts of the Kirillo-Belozersk Monastery to the Authorities about the Meteors Appearing in the Belozersk District." The astronomer Svyatsky came to the same conclusion regarding this phenomenon, who in the book "Astronomical Phenomena in Russian Chronicles" (Petrograd, 1915) calls it "an aerolite explosion." But Yuri Roscius disagrees with this interpretation: he put forward a cautious hypothesis that the "Robozero wonder" is the arrival of an alien reconnaissance probe.
… Robozero has survived to this day, only now it is called Zarobozero and is even included in the tourist routes of the Belozersky region, but it still haunts UFO hunters - ufologists. Back in the mid-80s. XX century, the Commission on Anomalous Phenomena of the Geographical Society of the USSR conducted an expedition, whose task was to make sure of the objective reality of this event.
The developed technique and unique equipment made it possible to reveal traces of the influence of a strange energy ball.
In 2011, enthusiasts from the UFO association "Cosmopoisk" became closely interested in Zarobozero and went to the site. However, no new discoveries were made. Moreover, they say that the original of Ivashka Rzhevsky's memorandum has also disappeared from the archive …

"IRON MUSHROOM" AND 300 ARTIFACTS
The Vologda region actually knows a lot of stories related to UFOs. They talk, for example, about an object that fell into the waters of Lake White in 1968 and then flew out of them again. In 1978, something described as an "iron mushroom" was observed in the forest of the Verkhovazhsky district. And all the federal mass media told about the "invasion" of UFOs in the Kharovsky district …
The famous Vologda collector, businessman and politician Mikhail Surov (1954-2011) once collected more than 300 artifacts with images of aliens. But until now nothing more impressive than "Robozerskoe miracle", the Vologda region has never seen.
