View of the island from the village of Shchuknavolok, behind which an unidentified flying object sank into the water in 1928

It would seem that in 2007 the official anniversary of the beginning of the study of UFOs around the world has died down long ago. Western intelligence services have declassified a huge number of archives, and the flow of messages about the invasion of intrusive guests from space is not that it is not decreasing, but rather growing. So much so that a year ago residents of several Karelian villages and villages turned to the Karelian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. They reported seeing UFOs all the time

And they vied with each other to enumerate numerous stories about "swinging doors" and "strange creatures emerging from UFOs." The appeal to scientists was for them the last straw of overflowing patience. The villagers, by all means, wanted to find out what, in the end, is happening in their native places and how they can get rid of all this nightmare. The well-known ethnographer of Karelia, a person who has collected a huge amount of material on UFO sightings in this region, the author of the forthcoming book (from the series "Mysterious Karelia") with the promising title "UFOs in Karelia" Aleksey Popov decided to understand this story

DS: Aleksey, tell me, is such a statement by local residents "mass psychosis" or is it really that UFOs are seen so often in your republic?

AP: I would say that they are seen with enviable regularity, not only that, the study of the UFO phenomenon in the Soviet Union by civilian researchers began largely thanks to the so-called Petrozavodsk phenomenon. On September 19-20, 1977, at four o'clock in the morning, a luminous "jellyfish" appeared in the sky over Petrozavodsk, which for 10-15 minutes sent luminous rays to the city. By the way, it was after this incident that the famous program for the study of anomalous phenomena (AY) "Grid" appeared in the USSR, and what actually happened then remained a mystery to the inhabitants of the city. As for the region of the Karelian Vedlozero, here we can say there is a "UFO - cosmodrome", so often the inhabitants of the surrounding villages and villages observe unusual flying objects, amazing atmospheric phenomena and strange creatures freely roaming the area. But this was not always the case, the phenomenon of this lake has a very real history.

D. S.: Tell her …

AP: It happened in the fall of 1928, when a strange cylindrical object flew over the Karelian village of Shchuknavolok, located one hundred and twenty kilometers from Petrozavodsk and crashed into Vedlozero, on the banks of which the village is located. This "phantasmagoria" was observed by residents of both the village itself and the village of Vedlozero. But since the time was serious then, everything was immediately reported to the NKVD. The Chekists cordoned off the area and tried to study the mysterious object, suspecting in it "an unknown weapon of a potential enemy", but then, without really understanding it, they left. At the same time, the object was only 70 cm from the surface of the water and the local boys subsequently climbed on it more than once, and the fishermen, standing on it, took off or put their nets. As a local resident Fyodor Petrovich Egorov, who was a boy at that time, told me,he personally observed this event: then on November 15, 1928, from behind the forest appeared a huge, the size of a peasant house, a smooth cylinder of the correct appearance. He flew past the boy about three hundred meters away completely silently and at a very low speed, contrary to all the laws of physics. It was already cold and Vedlozero was covered with ice. This "cylinder" broke through the ice and sank into the water behind the island, opposite Shchuknavolok.

D. S.: And this object could not be a banal meteorite?

Promotional video:

A. P.: From experience I can say that no. The meteorite is not characterized by such gentle trajectories and such a low rate of fall. In addition, the analysis of the world "Catalog of meteorites and fireballs" showed that in 1928 only twenty fireballs and five meteorites were recorded, the "closest" of which fell far from these places - in the south of Ukraine. In addition, since then, completely incomprehensible things began to happen in the village of Shchuknavolok. In 1933, a strange "gelatinous rain" fell on the village. This mass covered an area of about fifty square meters of the village. On the advice of the local healer Maria Lvovna Agarkova, local residents began to collect it in bottles and use it as an external medicine. It was said that even during the Great Patriotic War, this medicine helped to heal wounds. Since the same year, local residents began to meet on the shore of the lake a strange creature meter tall, thin and big-headed. His body and arms were disproportionately long, while his legs, on the contrary, were short. The attire, according to the description, resembled a tight-fitting jumpsuit. The creature was completely harmless and usually just sat quietly on the shore. So, at first, the local kids even threw stones at him, but then they got used to it and left him alone. By the way, the periodic observation of this strange creature continues to this day!the local kids even threw stones at him, but then they got used to it and left him alone. D. S.: And today this cylinder still lies at the bottom of the lake?

AP: Over the past twenty years, numerous research groups have come to Shchuknavolok to study what they called the Vedlozero phenomenon. They found a lot of interesting things, but the body itself was not. And no matter how much I tried to study this issue, I can say definitely that there is no information regarding his disappearance. As they say - "a mystery covered in darkness."

D. S.: During your last visit to Vedlozero, do the locals still see UFOs?

A. P.: On my last visit to Vedlozero, as usual, I heard several fresh stories of visiting this reservoir by unknown objects. So one of the residents casually told me how in April 2008 another observation of a “strange heavenly guest” took place. Eyewitnesses, all as one, spoke of a large luminous ball that moved across the sky, leaving a white winding trail behind it. It was not possible to establish the "identity" of the heavenly guest - either a meteorite, or a man-made rocket, or an alien mind. Another villager told me how the inhabitants of several villages located around Vedlozero observed a certain celestial body, which was much larger and brighter than ordinary "shooting stars". During the flight of this "ball", the windows in the houses of these settlements were shaking. The event made such a strong impression on peoplethat they even reported him to the local rescue service.

The section of the road where incredible events took place with train number 1702

D. S.: Vedlozero is the only place in Karelia where UFOs are often observed ?

AP: Speaking figuratively, there is a busy highway of these objects in the republic, for thirty years of research I have accumulated about 50 folders with observations of strange objects and creatures in our places. Moreover, there are episodes that are simply unparalleled in the world, such as the story of train No. 1702. This story was recorded directly from the tape, after a conversation with the drivers of that train: “On February 17, 1985, freight train No. 1702 followed its route from Petrozavodsk, through Suojärvi to Kostomuksha. Seventy empty gondolas and a two-piece diesel locomotive. The train was driven by driver Sergei Orlov and his assistant Viktor Mironov. Suddenly, at 20:35, the diesel locomotive crew suddenly noticed that some strange object was moving on the right, behind the trees, parallel to the train, which is a luminous translucent ball of regular geometric shape, the size of a "soccer ball".

A few minutes later an incredible "Ball" happened, changed its direction of flight, quickly "went" across the train and ended up 30-50 meters in front of the locomotive. The driver tried to stop the train, but the train continued to steadily move forward behind the "ball" - some unknown force was literally dragging him. Sergei Orlov contacted the duty officer at the Novye Peski station (the radio worked smoothly all the time) and tried to explain to her what was happening. The woman on duty did not understand anything, but went out to meet the approaching train. After a while, she saw that a diesel locomotive was approaching the entrance arrow, ahead of which was a luminous "ball", and in front of it was some red vibrating object, similar in shape to an inverted "basin".

The driver and his assistant did not see this item. After passing the station Novye Peski, S. Orlov and V. Mironov noticed that the “ball” again “went” across the train and again took its place in front of the diesel locomotive, while a “blow” occurred and the speed dropped sharply. In the locomotive's cabin, various objects fell on the floor, and the driver and his assistant hit the windshield. The brakes did not work at that time, so the reason for the braking was not in them. However, then the train began to pick up speed again, and without any action on the part of the locomotive crew. It was possible to stop the train only at the station Zastava, upon approaching which the "ball" flew away from the train and disappeared behind the forest. This whole story lasted one hour and twenty minutes, the "ball" "dragged" the train over fifty kilometers, due to which three hundred kilograms of diesel fuel were saved, and the participants in this event experienced a severe nervous shock. The reliability of what happened is confirmed by the diagrams of the recorders installed on the diesel locomotive and other official documents.. And these examples are literally a few in the constantly growing list of UFO sightings in Karelia!

D. S.: I know that UFO sightings take place constantly in Karelia. But why?

A. P.: For more than half a century of the official history of the study of unidentified flying objects, the widespread opinion has formed, almost by itself, that the observation of these mysterious objects or phenomena is so accidental that it is almost impossible to predict their appearance. Such a seemingly correct point of view largely depends on one or another hypothesis preached by each individual researcher. In fact, regardless of whether we consider UFOs to be purely physical phenomena of a nature unfamiliar to us or aircraft of an unknown civilization, we can, on the basis of statistical processing of a large number of messages, reveal, albeit in a generalized form and after dropping out explained observations, some patterns of temporal and the spatial distribution of these phenomena. And there is nothing strange here. Indeed, even for streams of meteorites, astronomers have long ago calculated approximate "schedules" of their approach (collision) with the Earth, both in space and in time. The same is the case with the well-known so-called short-period comets.

Almost similar work, however, adjusted for the specifics of the object of research itself, was done by us on the basis of more than three thousand letters and messages about UFO sightings in Karelia.

The territory of Karelia, as it turned out, is very attractive for strange "visitors". The most popular with them are the districts that still have preserved ancient religious buildings on their territory - Zaonezhie, Pudozh, Belomorsky districts, the islands of Ladoga and White lakes.

Is it coincidental? At present, in the circles of serious UFO researchers, there is a very well-founded opinion that the frequency of observations of celestial phenomena in many cases is directly related to special points on the surface of our planet. Such points are usually called geoactive zones. These places are characterized by a fairly specific impact on the environment, on flora, fauna and humans, as well as many mysterious, not yet studied properties.

According to one of the widespread points of view, these zones are special "acupuncture" points on the body of our planet, through which it, as if through antennas, carries out energy-informational exchange with outer space. Overlaying the territories of known anomalous zones and azimuths of UFO flights in Karelia made it possible to establish that UFOs clearly "prefer" to move along the energy channels connecting these zones, and based on a long-term analysis of the regularities of the geographical location of foci of ancient cultures in our region, migration routes of the population, with surprise, you state that our distant ancestors, when erecting religious sanctuaries and the construction of settlements, also took into account these features of the geological structure of the Earth.

D. S.: It's very interesting. But what can this give UFO researchers in understanding the essence of the phenomenon?

AP: Karelia is full of so-called “places of power”. It was with them that many ancient traditions associated the appearance on Earth of the teachers of mankind, various anomalous phenomena, contacts with UFOs. Often, the construction of special religious buildings was associated with the need to put such "contacts" under control. This is especially true of temples and monuments, in which the effect of the resonance of the form is clearly traced. These are stone circles, and dolmens, and labyrinths, and pyramids and much more. In places where such structures are located, the appearance of UFOs and other anomalous phenomena is much more often recorded.

There can be several explanations for this. Based on the hypothesis of the multidimensional nature of our world and the appearance of UFOs from other spatial dimensions, then the “places of power” can act as hyperspace tunnels (gateways, portals) through which UFOs move between the Earth and their world.

It should be noted that many ancient civilizations perceived places of power as "zones of transparency" - the area where the border between our world and the "otherworldly reality" is most permeable. This is reflected in the legends of Shambhala and in numerous stories about the appearance of fantastic creatures or about the mysterious disappearance of people. Similar stories abound in Russian folklore, especially in regions traditionally associated with shamanism (as a rule, it is in these areas that there are the most pronounced “places of power.” A concrete example of this is the Republic of Karelia).

It is also possible that UFOs use "places of power" as a kind of "communication stations" - areas through which it is easier to communicate with their bases located in other dimensions of reality or located in remote regions of our Universe. In this case, hyper-spatial interaction is possible, overcoming the limitation of the speed of light. This property of places of power was also well known in antiquity. Many myths have survived about communication with the Teachers of mankind in places of power. Moreover, one of the functions of the ancient megalithic complexes was associated with ensuring the stability of such communication. In later times, temples built in places of power served the same purpose.

And finally, it is possible that UFOs use "places of power" to influence the biosphere-noosphere of the Earth. In this case, they work in much the same way as acupuncture points on the human body. This use of "places of power" was also well known from ancient times.

Thus, the study of planetary places of power and megalithic structures can provide a lot of useful information, both in understanding the nature of UFOs and in identifying the zones of their probable appearance.
