This story is very similar to a horror movie. An unnamed 32-year-old Russian resident suddenly found a strange seal under her eye. Five days later, the "bump" moved to the area above the eye, where it was about 10 days, after which it settled in the upper lip and the lip was very swollen.
According to the Daily Mail, the woman monitored the movements of the country for two weeks before she went to the hospital for help. According to her, the "bump" was very itchy and caused a burning sensation.
At the very first minutes of the examination, the doctor realized that there was a living creature under the skin and turned to the surgeons, who brought out a thin and whitish parasite worm.
Doctors identified the worm as Dirofilaria repens. This parasite, belonging to the class of nematode worms, causes the disease dirofilariasis and often enters the eye. So this Russian woman is still lucky. Dirofilariae are carried by mosquitoes.
After that, the woman recalled that shortly before the appearance of a "bump" under her eye, she went to the countryside in the Moscow region and there she was severely bitten by mosquitoes. After removing the worm, the woman recovered and she did not have any negative consequences.
