Indian girl Varsha Sena was born with a third leg. The limb grew from her back in the lumbar region. Its anomaly is called polymelia (extra limbs) and is observed in about every millionth baby.
Varsha is now two years old. At the end of January 2016, she finally underwent surgery to remove her extra leg. According to surgeons from Delhi hospital, they have not seen such a case (with a leg growing from a section of the spinal cord) in over 50 years.
The girl's third leg was undeveloped, like the limb of an embryo. In the family, the baby was nicknamed "Ganesha" because of her anomaly, as the Indian deity with the head of an elephant and four arms is called.
By the way, the most famous case of polymelia in India is the anomaly of the girl Lakshmi Tatma. She was born with two legs attached to her body and two arms of her undeveloped twin. In November 2007, she was successfully operated on, got rid of the twin parasite and even began to learn to walk.
