Siamese twins of a rare type were born in Gaza (Palestine), in fact they are a two-headed baby. A female child has one body for two, but in the upper part of it, the chest is bifurcated. This double rib cage has two sets of lungs and two hearts, and above there are two separate necks with heads.
This is a very rare type of Siamese twins and the first birth of Siamese twins in Gaza since 2013.
Dr. Ayman al-Sahbani told the press that the children's parents refused to publicly disclose their names. He's also not sure if a sever operation is possible for this type of Siamese twins.
Most Siamese twins with this type of anomaly do not live long, and their bodies are unable to support the normal functioning of internal organs. 35% of them die immediately after birth. About 40% -60% are born dead.
Nevertheless, modern medicine can work wonders and some children can survive. And for some reason, most of the surviving Siamese twins are girls. Moreover, about 70% of all births of Siamese twins occur with female babies.
The Gaza twins are now in an incubator. Their state of health has not been reported.
