The Rosselkhoznadzor declares about the threat of the penetration of various strains of bird flu into the territory of the Russian Federation.

They can be introduced by wild migratory birds during seasonal migration. Representatives of the department stressed that this virus threatens poultry. The Rosselkhoznadzor told that there is an aggravated epizootic situation with bird flu in the world at the moment.

"As of November 18, 2016, cases of highly pathogenic influenza among domestic and wild birds were registered in the world, caused by the following subtypes: H5N1, H5N2, H5N6, H5N8, H5N9, H7N8, H7N3, H7N7, H7N1," the department notes. The virus has been found in Poland, Hungary, Croatia, Germany, Austria, Holland, Denmark, Switzerland, India, Israel and Algeria.

A person cannot control the spread of avian flu due to the fact that it is spread by birds, which migrate annually depending on the warm and cold seasons.

In order to localize foci of infection, the Rosselkhoznadzor urges at the first signs of illness or death of poultry in households and farms to report this to the veterinary service. Experts advise poultry farmers to strengthen the biological protection of birds. Also, according to them, it is important to exclude any contact of domestic birds with wild birds.
