Prominent astronomers Scott Sheppard and Chad Trujillo have announced that they have discovered a dwarf planet located in our solar system, said a spokesman for the Minor Planet Center of the International Astronomical Union.

Sheppard and Trujillo, together with colleagues from the science center, simultaneously discovered several mini-objects that are located beyond the orbit of Pluto. Through their scientific research, they also contributed to the discovery of the acclaimed Planet X.

On February 24, 2016, these famous planetary scientists announced that they had proven the existence of 2015 KH162, which is located in the middle of the "scattered disk" (Kuiper belt) known among astronomers. The diameter of the object does not exceed 800 kilometers. A new miniature planet is removed from the Sun at a distance twice as large as its "neighbor" Pluto.

Recall that the discovery of the mini-planet, in fact, took place back in May 2015, but then planetary scientists did not have enough information to prove its real existence.
