As a child, I was constantly sent to my grandmother in the village of Uldurga, in the Yeravninsky district. And there was a legend about a ghost horse at that time. They say, once upon a time, a man had a horse, and so obstinate that he would not let anyone saddle him, but as soon as he saw the owner, he lowered his head and became meek like a lamb. Black as a raven wing, with a luxurious mane and rounded glossy sides, he delighted everyone who had ever seen him.

And then one day the local guys, having drunk a decent amount of tarasuna (milk vodka), argued which of them would be able to tame and saddle Hara Shono ("black wolf" - Boer. Language). The most excited was 20-year-old Damdin. The guy tamed more than a dozen horses and was sure that his skill and courage would be enough to proudly sweep through the village on the back of the most legendary stallion in the village. And Damdin boasted so much that he decided to prove his words to his friends without delay, going to the pasture right at night (in the summer the herd was on free pasture, the owner took the horse only when necessary). But the friends were so drunk that they no longer heard the words of their friend: they were fast asleep when Damdin went into the night drunkenly. Of course, the drunk guy did not manage to carry out his plan.

The black wolf, without aggression, gently but confidently walked away from the unfortunate rider. And even having received a whip along the ridge, he did not get angry, did not rears, but only galloped away from the tormentor.

Sweating, heated with excitement and vodka, Damdin was furious: “What will your friends say? Will they laugh? And all because of some horse! This will not happen! Fierce by the defeat, the guy saddled his mare, galloped home, took a hunting rifle and returned to the pasture. Until dawn, he rode through the meadow in search of Shono Har and, kissing the flask with the tarasun, became more and more drunk and angry. And when, at last, he found the horse, he shot him several times without any pity.

Damdin's parents were well-to-do, they managed to pay their son's guilt before the horse's owner, and everything seemed to calm down. But soon Damdin remembered this story again. Once he had to return in the winter after a party from a neighboring village. He walked, walked, but the village still no longer exists. He is already scared and uncomfortable. For a long time they should have appeared at home, but not a single zgi was visible: as if it were a sin, a blizzard arose, and Damdin did not even see his own outstretched hand. And suddenly a herd of horses grew up in front of him. They seemed incredibly huge: black on white snow. The manes fluttered in the wind, and they stood with their heads bowed, as if they were not alive, but as if carved out of stone. Damdin was speechless with fear and admiration.

He had never seen such a majestic picture, such huge, proud and mystically beautiful animals. But then the leader of the herd raised his head, and bloody tears rolled from his eyes. No, it couldn't be! Hara Shono looked directly into Damdin's eyes, looked and cried blood. The guy was dumbfounded: he could not move his arm or leg, and his tongue seemed to stick to the sky. For a long time the black wolf looked into the eyes of its killer, then shook his dazzling mane and went ahead, the herd followed him. And as soon as the horses disappeared into a curtain of snow, the village appeared.

Eyewitnesses recall that Damdin came home as if dipped into the water, and only after several glasses of alcohol he untied his tongue and told this outlandish story. In the village, of course, they did not believe the drunken ravings of a young alcoholic, but since then the guy's life has gone downhill.

And a couple of years later he died: he fell drunk from his calm mare. And that, do not understand why, always calm and slow, suddenly became as if possessed and trampled on her master.
