When love is stronger than death
The fact that death is not the end of rational existence, but only a transition from one state to another, is evidenced not only by studies of death and dying by modern science, but also … cases of materialization, or the phenomenon of so-called ghosts (that is, an astral form, or image deceased). There are many examples of this kind - no matter how fantastic they may seem - all over the world.
The phenomenon of materialization of the dead in the physical world has long been the material of scientific research in Western countries. Dozens of books and films, thousands of magazine articles are devoted to him. Let's try to analyze some of the examples of "visits" from the other world, and at the same time find out the reasons for the attachments, due to which people who have gone to the next world are forced to violate the border of the worlds and appear among the living again. The motives for such appearances, as we shall see, can be quite different.
Those who have departed to the next world can be attracted to the earth by love for those who are close to the earth and the desire to help them; but they can also pull back to the earthly plane, and heavy chains of karmic punishments for serious mistakes during earthly life. There are also cases when the souls of killed people, whose bodies were hidden or, at least, improperly buried, could not find rest and were alive in the form of ghosts until their physical remains were discovered and reburied in a proper way. in accordance with the accepted ritual. And, finally, in the most difficult cases, the motive that attracted the soul of the deceased to the earth was hatred and the desire to take revenge on someone from the living.
The accounts of witnesses to unusual visits can best illustrate the well-known truth that love and hate are stronger than death. Experiencing the physical body, they continue their existence in another world …
Perhaps one of the strongest feelings, most often causing the appearance of the astral bodies of the dead in the physical world, is maternal love.
• In his work "Invisible Helpers" the theosophist from England Charles Leadbeater described the following incident: “One man who had just buried his wife came for a few days with his young children to the village, to his friend. It was a quaint, old building. The basement had long, dark corridors where the children enjoyed playing. But one day they returned upstairs from there quiet and serious, and two of them told that, running along one of the lower corridors, they met their dead mother. She told them to come back and disappeared. Having examined the corridors, we found out that if the children had run further, they would have ended up in a deep, uncovered stone well located at the end of the corridor. Consequently, the appearance of the mother saved them from probable death.

In this case, we can say that the mother from the astral realm did not stop lovingly watching her children. Her passionate desire to save them from the danger to which they were unconsciously directed, gave her the power to make herself visible and heard by them, or to make them feel that they saw and heard her. (…) It is most natural to explain what happened by the influence of mother's love, which is always alive and which the transition to the next world cannot extinguish."
Discussing the ability of the dead to come to the aid of the living, Leadbeater wrote: “Mother's love - one of the most sacred and least selfish feelings - is at the same time the most durable in the higher worlds. The mother, who is in the lower regions of the astral world, does not cease to be interested in her children and to observe them while it is still available to her. Moreover, even during the mother's stay in the heavenly world, abandoned little creatures continue to occupy her thoughts. The great love that a mother has for the astral images of her children she created releases a large amount of spiritual energy that spreads to children still living on earth and surrounds them with beneficial influences that can be imagined as real guardian angels.
• Another amazing case of help from the other world, dictated by the mother's love for her daughter who remained on the earthly plane, who was in a difficult situation, was told by an unwitting participant, Mrs. Auburn, a nurse.
1950 - Mrs. Auburn was knitting that evening, sitting by the light of a kerosene lamp. The children had already gone to bed, and her husband had gone to a nearby ranch. Suddenly there was a knock on the door of her house. In those days, Mrs. Auburn was the only nurse in their rural area. The nearest doctor lived 30 km away from her, and the city with the hospital was not less than 150 km away from their area. People often turned to Mrs. Auburn for help, and so she was not surprised to hear a knock on the door. Opening it, the nurse saw on the threshold a dark-haired woman with a lantern in her hand, wrapped in a dark blanket.
“Senora,” the woman said in a strong Spanish accent, “please come with me. My daughter Ignasia is due to give birth to a child today.
Auburn invited the visitor into the house and began hastily to get ready for the journey. Having woken up the eldest daughter, the nurse warned her that she would be busy at least until the end of the next day, and at speed she was already making her way through the darkness and snow with the woman. At the same time, the nurse was surprised by how easily, like a shadow, her companion glided through the huge snowdrifts.
Finally they got to a small house. On entering, the nurse saw a young Mexican woman who was already in labor, and immediately got down to business. A few hours later, a boy was born, and his plaintive cry resounded through the walls of the house.
- Madre, look what a wonderful grandson you have! - said Mrs. Auburn and then noticed that the dark-haired woman who had called her had disappeared somewhere. She was nowhere to be seen.
The next day, the snow continued to fall. Returning from the city where he went to get supplies, the husband of a young Mexican woman was surprised to find that he had become a father. He was even more surprised by the presence of Mrs. Auburn in his house.
- How did you know about this, sister? He asked in perplexity.
When Mrs. Auburn told him that his wife's mother had come for her, the Mexican turned pale and began to be baptized in fear.
- It can't be! After all, my wife's mother died exactly 19 years ago - when Ignacy was born! He exclaimed.
• Another example. Margaret Cooper, as a late child, was born very weak and often sick. As a child, having suffered from polio, she began to suffer from a strange complication. For no apparent reason, the girl at times experienced bouts of suffocation, during which she literally died. Sometimes such attacks happened to her during sleep, forcing the mother to worry about her all the time.
The doctors could not determine the causes of her strange illness, telling the parents that their daughter was physically healthy and what could be causing these attacks, they cannot understand. And at the same time, they recognized that such attacks are quite capable of killing her. The last three years of her life, Margaret's mother spent in constant care of her health. The day before her death, the mother made a promise to her daughter that she would continue to take care of her as long as necessary.
A week after her mother's death, Margaret's attacks of suffocation disappeared as mysteriously as they appeared. Gradually, she completely forgot about them.
However, in 1988, such attacks began to recur again every six months, sometimes with such force that Margaret was admitted to intensive care.
One night in October 1995, Margaret was awakened by the sound of her mother's voice. With difficulty opening her eyes, Margaret saw that her mother, as if alive, was standing near her bed.
- Maggie! - Mom told her, - wake up! You are dying. Wake up now!
And then Margaret suddenly realized that she was having another attack. She could not only breathe, but also move. Panic seized her, but her mother continued to call her, urging her to sit down immediately. With an incredible effort, lifting herself up on one elbow, Margaret felt that it was getting easier for her. At first, she could only gasp for air convulsively, but gradually began to breathe normally. After some time, which seemed to her to be infinity, the attack stopped.
Margaret looked at her mother again, whose image gradually began to fade, dissolving in the air. - Thanks Mom! She said, and for a moment saw her familiar smile.
Since that time, Margaret has always felt how much she is attached to her mother - even more than when her mother was alive.
• A case that happened to 38-year-old David, who, no doubt, would have drowned if the soul of his deceased grandmother had not come to his aid. G. Eckersley in his book "Saved by Angels" wrote: “David's little son loved to swim, and then one day David and his wife decided to take him to the local swimming pool. Both were very proud that their son could swim so well, especially since neither David nor his wife practically knew how to swim. In the pool, David for some reason wanted to get into the water, and while his wife settled down nearby with a magazine in her hands, David followed his son. Splashing in the water, he soon reached the far edge of the pool, where it was already six feet deep. Reasoning that he is unlikely to be in danger, since he is five feet ten inches and in which case he can just jump a little, David moved forward.
Not familiar with swimming pools and with the rules of behavior on the water, he was completely unprepared for what happened to him a few seconds later - he slipped and fell onto the bottom covered with slippery tiles. In a panic, he tried to get to his feet and could not. To scream, he opened his mouth and immediately felt a burning pain in his lungs, where water immediately fell - as he himself says, it was as if red-hot lava was poured into his chest. Oddly enough, at the same time he continued to see his wife, calmly sitting on the edge of the pool and unaware of the drama that was unfolding just a few steps away. The thought flashed through David's head that no one knew about his trouble, and he surprisingly quickly came to terms with the fact that he was about to drown.
At this time, David saw his son, serenely splashing at the other end of the pool. This is probably the last thing I see in my life, he thought. However, here, next to the figure of his son, a strange cloud formed, immediately moving towards David. Soon a figure emerged from the cloud. The pain in the lungs was already completely unbearable, but when the figure approached him, David immediately felt better.
Before him was his beloved grandmother - in a long white dress, with flowing hair. David could not believe his eyes - after all, she died many years ago. By this point, the pain was completely gone, and David felt his grandmother's arms grab him from below and gently push him to the surface. To this sensation was added another, very similar one - his son came to his aid, noticing that the situation with his father was bad, and now trying to pull him out by the hair. True, the boy was still very weak, while David was distinguished by a strong build, so his son clearly could not have pulled him out of the pool on his own.
At this point, David lost consciousness. The next thing he remembers is that he is lying on the edge of the pool, and the attendants are trying to remove water from his lungs. Nevertheless, everything that happened was clearly imprinted in his memory. David has no doubt that on that day he was saved by the Guardian Angel, which, surprisingly, turned out to be his grandmother. David is still overwhelmed by the feeling of love. But most importantly, he is no longer afraid of death. He is sure that a wonderful life awaits us after it and that the angel of death is actually one of our loved ones who meets us on the threshold of the afterlife."
