A very strange incident of the appearance of a ghost happened in one of the family houses located in the UK. An unmarried girl named Anna Griffith was born in the era of Elizabeth the First, her childhood was spent on the family estate - Burton Agnes Hall. Here, in Yorkshire, in her youth, she frolicked with her sisters, and later began to meet with gentlemen. This young girl died on her family estate as a result of a serious incurable illness. While dying, Anna forced her loved ones, in the presence of a priest, to swear to her that when she died, her head would be cut off from her body and would be kept in the house forever.
Her sisters made a promise that they would certainly fulfill the unusual request of the seriously ill patient. However, it was thought that she had lost her mind as a result of a debilitating illness. Of course, after her death, they did not fulfill their promise. The lifeless body of the young girl was placed in a family tomb near a fragrant flower garden in an intact state.
For some time in the family estate, which was in mourning, everything was quiet and calm. However, suddenly, in the middle of the night, inhuman groans began to be heard in the house, turning into hysterical laughter. All the adults who lived on this estate instantly jumped out of bed and began to search in all the rooms of the house for the source of such a terrible laugh. However, all of their efforts came to nothing. And when the next night came, unbearable sobs and a prolonged howl, from which the blood froze in the veins, began to be heard again. The impression was that the whole estate was shaking from unbearable groans. The sisters, frightened to death, decided to call a local priest for help.
The Holy Father did not forget about the promise given by the relatives of the deceased; he recommended that they open the coffin. They did so, and found that the deceased sister had fulfilled their oath herself. The head was cut off from the body and rested on the lower jaw.
Relatives belatedly fulfilled their oath. They carried the skull into the house and very carefully placed it in the very center of the table in the reception room.
