An amazing and slightly curious discovery was made by scientists in one of the regions of Brazil in the Amazon region. According to the British tabloid The Sun, they discovered a completely new, unknown to science creature, similar to a snake and outwardly resembling male dignity.
The new species was named Atretochoana eiselti. Experts conditionally call it a "flexible snake", while noting that in fact it is not a reptile at all, but a legless amphibian, the closest relatives of which are frogs and salamanders.
A total of six such creatures were found. One "snake" died, two scientists left for research, and the remaining three were set free.
The new species lacks eyes. Moreover, he has no lungs. Scientists believe that Atretochoana eiselti breathes through the skin. According to their guesses, "flexible snakes" feed on small fish and worms.
The discovery was made back in November last year, but it was reported only now, when the uniqueness of the find was finally confirmed.
