"Trident" on the Paracas Peninsula in Peru

On the Paracas Peninsula (Peru), at the beginning of the last century, a huge number of ancient Indian burials were excavated, which were correlated with the "Paracas culture", officially dating from 600 BC. e. to 200 AD e. During the excavations, a huge number of mummies were found, the skulls of which had distinct traces of craniotomy operations. The number of such skulls at different burial grounds on the Paracas Peninsula ranged from 40 to 60% of the total! To say that this is a lot is to say nothing …

At the same time, the injuries to the skull were absolutely not related to the "injuries received in battle" - as, for example, in another Indian culture, the Mochica, which was distinguished by great belligerence. Skulls with several (sometimes up to five!) Traces of operations on the skull were also found here. Precisely specialized medical operations!

In addition, paleontologists can easily establish from bone remains whether a person survived after such an operation or not. The fact is that with a successful operation, the hole in the skull gradually overgrows and closes with the regenerating bone tissue. If the skull does not show signs of healing, this means that the patient died during or shortly after surgery. So, on some burial grounds the number of skulls with traces of successful operations exceeds 80%!

In ancient times, several techniques for craniotomy were known: gradual scraping of the bone, cutting in a circle or drilling small holes in a circle (perforation), and then removing the resulting "cap". As a technique in Paracas, both scraping of the skull bone and its excision were used. On average, the diameter of such holes on the skull was 4–5 cm, but in exceptional cases the diameter could reach 7.5 cm, that is, the trepanned area was almost 90 cm²! And the person remained alive after that.

In one of the burials, a whole set of surgical instruments was found, which included: obsidian knives of various sizes, a spoon made from a sperm whale tooth, needles and threads, bandages and cotton balls-tampons. With the help of such simple tools, ancient physicians successfully opened the skulls of their fellow tribesmen. Several skulls were found in Paracas, where the holes were covered with thin gold plates. And these plates had time to grow along the edges with new bone tissue. In other cases, the hole was covered with plates of dried pumpkin rind.

The practice of trepanation is known not only in Paracas, but also in many other places of the world, and not only nearby (Nazca culture, Cuzco (also Peru), in the north), but also in very remote regions (for example, China).

But nowhere but Paracas is there such a high concentration of this type of human bone remains. Moreover, after the disappearance of the Paracas culture, the cause of which has not been established, the number of finds of skulls with traces of trepanation sharply decreases throughout the region.

Promotional video:

It is curious that there are no burials of "aliens" here, as evidenced by the data of genetic examination. Consequently, all of the operated patients belonged to the same local culture. And one more nuance: there are no poor burials at the Paracas necropolis. All burials belong to representatives of the social elite, the upper class - the leaders and priests. But why did they do such operations for themselves here?..

Here we will put an ellipsis, since we have repeatedly talked about the reasons for which, most likely, trepanation was carried out. And it was not just "imitation of the gods." A certain technology really gave results, although it was associated with a lot of side effects …

A short video will slightly open the veil of secrecy:
