The owners of Ripley Castle, located in the English county of Yorkshire, were left in disbelief after four antique candlesticks, which disappeared almost three years ago, were returned by a ghost.
Sir Thomas Ingilby, the owner of the castle, reported that silver items worth more than $ 10,000 disappeared from the building on Christmas Eve in 2014. After a long search all over the spacious castle, he eventually reported the lost candlesticks to Ecclesiastes Insurance, which reimbursed him for missing items last year.
However, the items suddenly returned to the house under very strange circumstances. After silver is found in a bright red Christmas bag, the Ingilby family suspects that a mischievous poltergeist may have been responsible for the supernatural incident.
“Three of us searched this room from top to bottom, and I searched it myself three times before filing a lawsuit, so finding them in such a simple place was quite amazing,” said Sir Thomas.
This is not the first time that something strange happens in the castle. Likewise, a set of silverware went missing a few years ago, which was found in the same place a year and a half later.
Like every ancient castle, Ingilby Castle has its own supernatural history, and Sir Thomas believes that the disappearance of the candlesticks may be a "joke" of two ghost children, the ancestors of Henry and Mary Ingilby, who died in the castle from leukemia in the late 19th century at the age of seven and five years old.
After finding the family's historical heritage, Ingilby immediately returned the money to their insurer, who was surprised by this course of events.
“We are often trusted to protect the country's most irreplaceable treasures, and we are delighted to hear that candlesticks have been found. It often happens when clients find lost items themselves. But this is definitely the first time a customer has reimbursed us for items they think were returned by the ghost! - said the representative of the insurance company David Bonehill.
