We used to think that love potion exists exclusively in fairy tales. So it is - for now. But science is developing at such a pace that such drugs may appear in the very near future, British scientists say.

Dr. Anders Sandberg from Oxford University gives ten years for the appearance of a love potion, reports The Independent.

When you fall in love, hormones such as oxytocin and vasopressin are released in your brain. You begin to feel that the object of your love should be near, should be closer to you.

And the reason you miss your partner - especially his smell - when he is away is because of the secretion of the hormone corticotropin.

So, a love potion, according to Sandberg, can be created by mixing oxytocin, vasopressin and corticotropin. But it’s not easy to get it right, and scientists still don’t know how it might work.

It is only known that the love potion should affect the right half of the brain, stimulating the dopamine systems, says the scientist.

He notes that science is evolving at a rapid pace and today we know much more about the principles of the brain than we did before. “I would be very surprised if after ten years we did not figure out how to solve this problem (with the creation of a love potion. - Approx." MP ")", - says Sandberg.

He acknowledges that ethical issues can arise when such drugs are developed. How can attempts to fall in love with a person against his will turn out? On the other hand, such a medicine could serve to strengthen existing ties, the scientist believes.
