Hades, Naraka, hell - the name of the other world changes from religion to religion, but the meaning remains the same. Each religious practice has its own concept of the place where the wicked soul goes to repent. But not only the dead can get here. Legends claim that each of the places listed below is literally a gateway to the other world.
Cape Matapan. Greece
The Cape Matapan Caves are located at the southern tip of mainland Greece. To find them, you have to go down under the rock, to the very level of the sea. It was here that the ancient Greeks located the passage to Hades. Who knows, maybe they weren't so wrong.
Hekla. Iceland

The stratovolcano known as Hekla is located far in the southern mountains of Iceland. In the Middle Ages, Cistercian monks stumbled upon this place. In 1180, the monk Herbert de Clairvaux described the volcano with the chapter of his book Liber De Miraculis. Another monk, Benedict of Viscerion, believed that it was here that the devils dragged the soul of Judas. Local folklore is still alive: if you are going to walk to the volcano on Easter eve, then you will certainly be dissuaded: at this time witches and sorcerers gather here.
The ghost city of Fengdu. China
The village at the northern end of the Yangtze River is over 2,000 years old. Fengdu is renowned for its striking traditional architecture and an abundance of statues made with indescribable craftsmanship. Its streets and squares are filled with statues of ghosts and demons, as well as bitter reminders of the punishments that await the wicked in their next life.
Lake Curtius. Italy
In fact, this is not a lake at all, but the ruins in the center of the Roman forum. According to Titus Livy and Plutarch, this place used to be a deep crevice leading straight to hell. The young warrior Mark Curtius allegedly rushed here, sacrificing himself to the underground gods in the name of Rome.

According to Voodoo mythology, the recently deceased are sent to a kind of purgatory before entering the underworld. Here they meet their ancestors and appear before the baron of Saturday. On the physical plane, the gate to the Loa Sanctuary is located in New Orleans at the intersection of Canal Street and Basin Street.
