Richard's Castle, rising on a slope not far from Andriyivsky Uzviz, looks more like a medieval fortress. The castle was built not so long ago, in 1905, although it has already earned a mystical fame for itself. At that time in one of the newspapers one could see an article in which it was said that this house suddenly caught fire in the evening, and a few hours after the fire, only burnt walls remained from the house. No one was able to find out if it was an accident or set it on fire.
Soon after the fire in the castle, terrible things happened - hysterical laughter was heard in the towers, and in the pipes and stoves one could hear incessant rustling. Rumors began to creep around the city that the castle had become a haven for ghosts. And soon Richard's castle, built as a tenement house, lost its guests. The merchant Orlov, the owner of the castle, suffered huge losses. He had to move to another city, where he died from a violent death.
Richard's castle is currently under renovation. For 30 years now, they want to turn it into a hotel, but the work can not begin in any way. It can be assumed that this is hampered by the castle's notoriety. If you approach the castle, you can feel some discomfort, especially from the side of the observation deck.
