Want to know about one of the biggest unsolved mysteries of our time? In June 1998, a pilot flying over a remote South Australian desert discovered a huge human drawing on the ground. About 60 km west of the city of Murray is a 4.2 km high figure with a 28 km perimeter, making it one of the largest geoglyphs in the world. Murray's man is so huge that he can only be fully seen from a height of 1000 meters.

Unlike many geoglyphs in other parts of the world created by ancient civilizations, Murray Man appeared in the desert no more than 18 years ago. Presumably, a bulldozer with GPS coordination was used to create the figure. Experts estimate that it took about 8 weeks to create the geoglyph. Everything was created in secret, therefore there is not a single witness - thanks to such remoteness, no one saw or heard anything. Murray's human figure remains one of the world's greatest modern unsolved mysteries.

A furrow 20-30 cm deep reached 35 meters wide. By simple calculations, a bulldozer with a 2.5 meter wide bucket would require up to 14 passes. In total, the bulldozer would cover 400 kilometers and use over 300 liters of fuel.

Presumably, the artist used a computer to put the figure on a satellite photograph of the place and calculated all the coordinates for further work. The creators, however, made the mistake of not digging out a deep enough ditch, since just below the red earth is a layer of white chalk. If the figure were dug a little deeper, this would make it practically eternal. Since this was not done, the image is gradually destroyed through natural processes. By December 2015, Murray's man was almost invisible on Google Earth.
