In the rating of the most mysterious and mysterious places of the Lipetsk region, the village of Borki, Terbunsky district and its surroundings, confidently takes the leading position. Firstly, thanks to the manor complex preserved here, which belonged to the Sheremetev nobles in the 19th - 20th centuries. The palace in the center of the estate, made in the Gothic style, resembles a medieval European castle. Borkovsky Castle is the only architectural monument of regional importance in the style of English Neo-Gothic. Its appearance was created by the famous St. Petersburg architect Alexander von Gauguin.
The castle, and in fact the household yard, like the entire estate, for some time was the property of Prince Andrei Vladimirovich Romanov. After the revolution, the castle housed a children's home and a secondary school. In 1983 it was added to the state list of protected objects. But the castle continued to collapse until a few years ago it was sold "with encumbrance" - the task of completely restoring and preserving the original appearance of the building. We must pay tribute to the company that restored the castle-yard. The restoration was carried out in accordance with the original project of von Gauguin without any changes, at least externally. Inside, there is a hotel complex for hunting lovers.
There is a castle similar in architecture to Borkovsky in the city of Ramon in the neighboring Voronezh region. According to legend, a mystical connection existed between the two palaces. The sorcerer, who allegedly treated the owner of the Ramon estate, the princess of Oldenburg, consulted with the healer who lived in Borki. But the place of consultations was "Devil's canteen". It is located in a forest-covered tract, behind the Borkovsky castle and the Sputnik children's health camp. This is the local Stonehenge: a huge, five tons, ice age boulder with a perfectly smooth "table top" and holes in it. Around the “table” there are several “chairs”, “sofas” and “ottomans”, as if carved out of smaller stones by someone. Different stories are told about this place. The name is simply explained: “Painfully heavy stones. Only the devil can lift them. "Further down the slope from the "damn canteen" there are many more huge boulders. According to legend, the raging devil smashed the “furniture” here, being dissatisfied with something. The place itself is really unkind. The forest is dark here, it looks ominous, you can't even hear the bird chirping …
There is also a terrible legend associated with this place of evil spirits. Eugenia of Oldenburg, the mistress of the Ramon castle, like many representatives of the Romanov family, suffered from leukemia. For healing Evgenia turned not only to traditional medicine, but also to healers. To cure her, the Ramon sorcerer Rodya turned to his brother and colleague - a sorcerer from Borok - Rogue One for help. The latter in the healing of Eugenia Oldenburgskaya used a terrible rite - the preparation of a drink from the blood of an infant, with the rite of sacrifice on this very "devil's table". And evil spirits helped Eugenia of Oldenburg. She began to feel much better, but at the same time, she, out of nowhere, developed an attraction to the sorcerer Rode, at whose request the Rogue made the potion a love spell. Having learned about the sympathy of the princess for the "extrasensory",the husband of Evgenia Oldenburgskaya killed the sorcerer Rodya, pinning him to the ground with an aspen stake …
If you leave the pine forest, then in two hundred meters you will find yourself on the bank of the Olym River. The places here are of amazing beauty. But, they are considered as mysterious as the forest with the "damn table". On the left is the Olym floodplain - steep banks and a river running into a dead end - the famous "Failure". According to geologists, a powerful tectonic fault line passes here, and experts on anomalous phenomena claim that there is also an energy failure. According to the stories, devilry and all sorts of anomalous phenomena occur here all the time. For example, in the area of the Fall, they often see all sorts of flying and luminous spheres, "saucers" beating from the ground and ball lightning and wandering lights.
A little sorry for these people. There is no romance in them and no craving for the unknown, mystical and mysterious.
