An unidentified object, spotted the night before, on February 6, in the sky over Kupchino, is being discussed online. Eyewitnesses posted a video on the social network, in which an incomprehensible luminous object hung almost motionless. Those who saw this phenomenon and commentators on the social network were divided into three groups. Some were sure that it was a star.

- Yes it is Venus. It shines so brightly now. I examined it through a telescope.

“This is Sirius, the brightest star.

- This is Venus. To the left a little higher from it, you can barely see Mars.

However, others assured that the object did not resemble a star - it was too large and shone very brightly. The jokers managed to greet the aliens and remember Bondarchuk's film, which was recently released on screens.

Still others were convinced that the luminous UFO was the ISS, and even quoted bloggers.

- On February 6 (Monday), clear weather is promised in St. Petersburg, which will allow residents of the cultural capital to observe the flight of the International Space Station against the background of the evening sky. The first flyby will take place from 18:27 to 18:31 (shown in the animation), and the second flyby will take place from 20:03 to 20:05 and will end with entering the Earth's shadow at the moment of maximum height above the horizon (19 degrees).

Metro decided to clarify the situation and received a comment from the specialists of the Pulkovo Observatory.

Promotional video:

- We announced in advance that Venus in the southwest sparkles in the rays of the evening dawn throughout January-February, and after midnight Venus goes beyond the horizon, and Jupiter reigns, - explained Sergey Smirnov, press secretary of the Pulkovo Observatory.

A similar spectacle can be seen in the next day. As the experts advised, everyone can dress warmer and take a "keen" technique to count the stars in the sky.

Metro was also told at the observatory that the luminous object was definitely not the ISS.

- The ISS is rapidly shifting across the sky and traversing an arc rather low in two minutes. And the stars move at their usual daily speed.

Another beautiful sight awaits the Petersburgers on February 15 - then the Moon will approach Jupiter.
