Many things, especially old ones, can change a person's fate. Or at least change his character. This is my story.
When a new tenant, a quiet young man named Gennady, moved into a one-room apartment next to ours, we were very happy. After all, earlier in this apartment lived a husband and wife - scandalous alcoholics, because of whom the entire entrance had constant problems.
Gennady, however, was a decent and benevolent person. Later, when we got to know each other better, it turned out that the young man has an interesting hobby. He searched for and acquired inexpensive antiques - a kerosene lamp, a wooden box and others. He restored these items himself and was very happy that they appeared in his house.
A year and a half later, his girlfriend Lilya moved to live with Gennady. We were even surprised at first - how different young people are. Lilya simply could not do anything quietly and calmly. She reacted extremely emotionally to everything that happened in the house, even to the smallest events. She slammed the door so that the walls trembled. And if she was talking on the phone, she could be heard even on the street.
Once Gennady brought from somewhere an old kitchen cupboard, which had darkened with time - he bought it from his friend's grandmother for nothing. I started to restore it and was very pleased with my purchase. But Lily's relationship with this "monster", as she called the old thing, went wrong.
One day the girl went to the store, and before that, as Gennady said, she slammed the cupboard door so hard that the glass broke in it. Returning, near the very entrance, Lilya slipped, fell and broke her arm.
Then these two incidents were not connected with each other. But in vain …
A little time passed, Lily's hand healed, and she again did not get along with the sideboard: she pulled too hard on the handle of the drawer, tore it out "with meat." On the same day, the bumper of the girl's Zhigulenka was torn off - it was touched by some dashing driver.

Further more. As soon as Lilya began to disrespectfully handle the sideboard or, God forbid, broke something off him, some kind of trouble happened: the keys to the apartment were lost, the neighbors below were flooded with water, and once Lilya was washing the window, she felt dizzy, and she almost fell out.
The girl began to blame the old sideboard for all the troubles and demanded to throw it away. But Gennady insisted that you need to make friends with him. Together they began to work on its restoration. And the girl liked this activity so much that she even began to call the buffet not “a monster”, but “my darling”.
Surprisingly, all the troubles ended immediately!
And most importantly, Lilya herself has changed. She became as calm and orderly as Gennady. Soon the young people got married.
We have been living in another area of the city for a long time, but we always remember with warmth our former home, Gennady, Lilya, their children. And we understand that each thing has its own vulnerable soul.
