In the center of attention is another variation on the theme of the Kazak Kosmodamian temple.
The village of the 1st stan of the Kaluga district, Pokrovskoe-on-Login, was on the left hand of the old Moscow highway from Kaluga, 29 miles away.
Despite its location “on a mountain, by a well,” the village withered long before the end of October 1917, and already in 1859 there were only 4 yards, in which 4 men and 7 women lived.
On the maps of the 20th century, no Pokrovsky between Osorgino and Dubrovka is no longer found, and the mark of the church has disappeared at the most relevant 250 meters from the GHC.
Information about the identified object of cultural heritage is rather modest: it is known that the stone Church of the Intercession was built by some Rakhmanovs instead of the old wooden one, in 1804.

And from the church itself not so much has survived - only one rotunda of the main volume with gaping holes at the junction of the refectory and altar apse.
However, even in this form, it is quite easy to guess the object for imitation, reproduced here only partially, at least - without the rotundal side-chapels of the refectory.
The rotunda itself is also simpler than the original - there is neither a light drum, nor an intricate balcony of the choirs.
Despite the general terrible condition, a number of details are noteworthy:
Firstly, painting in the academic style, well preserved in the walls of the second light windows.
Secondly, forged doors presumably simultaneous to the temple.
Let us dwell on painting in more detail: on the eastern wall above the unpreserved iconostasis, life-size images of the saints are made: the holy fool Andrew and the holy martyr Evdokia; Holy Martyr Tryphon and the Monk Zacharius.
Evangelists are depicted in the piers of the windows of the second light, which is curious - without the corresponding symbols.
On the north - Luke and Matthew.
On the south - Mark and John.
Below are three images on the theme of well-known New Testament subjects, which are based on the engravings of Karolsfeld: from the west above the arched opening - a large-scale Testimony of John the Baptist. Original engraving:
The most vandalized Burial is located to the south. Original engraving:
… And from the north, also the affected, but well-identifiable Path to Golgotha. Original engraving:
After inspecting the interiors, we leave the temple and once again stop looking at the extremely picturesque doors and, at the same time, the number of connections that once supported the entablature of the porticoes that adorned the side entrances to the temple.
Continuing the topic of connections and recalling the mysterious theories of pro_vladimir, we discover a hinge joint that was exposed during the destruction of the refectory …
… more like a kind of loop from the gate.
Well, that seems to be all: we complete our acquaintance with the ruined monument and leave the deserted churchyard.
