The phrase “the chupacabra did it” may well be the perfect excuse for officials in Puerto Rico, Texas and South America, where the monster is said to be found. Chupacabra may well be able to destroy roads, warehouses, or even just gnaw and digest part of the local budget.
In reality, many cases of disappearance of goats, sheep and chickens, especially when they occur under mysterious circumstances, are blamed by local farmers on Chupacabra.
Many livestock suffered in Argentina, in the town of La Paz, in Catamarca, and the Chupacabra was again accused of this.
Locals say that the type of cuts on the bodies of animals, the state in which they were thrown, the unwillingness of carcasses to decompose, the absence of scavengers around them, and many other oddities indicate the presence of the chupacabra.
Infocampo, a local agricultural publication, was the first to report an incident on a farm belonging to a certain Ariel Sorribes in the northwestern province of Catamarca, near the border with Chile.
The man noticed that his herd had shrunk by one head and found a disfigured carcass under a tree. Sorribes says the cow was healthy and vaccinated.
The photographs from the scene are a terrible picture. Some of the cow's organs were missing, and the cuts that removed them were incredibly precise, as if they were made with an incredibly sharp blade.
But upon examination it turned out that even for a surgical scalpel, such cuts were too neat. On top of that, all the wounds were closed, as if sealed. Not a single scavenger came close to the carcass of a cow, and the meat turned out to be fresh and did not succumb to rotting during all the time that had passed.

The cases that are usually attributed to the emergence of the Chupacabra look different. When the peasant wanted to take photographs, his mobile phone turned off. Then a teacher from a nearby school approached the scene, but her phone also refused to work, as if it was affected by a certain field. This is more like how the presence of aliens is usually described.
The farmer asked the National Agricultural Service, where he was told that, as in all such cases, this is the work of rodents. Last year, a rodent species called the digging hamster became responsible for similar damage to livestock carcasses. In some cases, it can indeed eat the soft tissues of dead animals, of which there are always many in a country where there are many livestock. But hamsters are unlikely to know how to turn off cell phones and heal wounds. And scare away scavengers.
Local press reports that ranchers are becoming more worried as attacks on livestock have continued for years across the region. At least two to three dozen heads of livestock are lost every month. Whoever is responsible - hamsters, chupacabras, or aliens - can be billed a lot, as farmers estimate one missing animal at least $ 300.
