On the territory of Yorkshire (Great Britain), road builders uncovered several medieval graves. What turned out to be inside caused a shock among scientists, and researcher Artur Garaganov put forward a hypothesis, in his opinion, the discovered burial is the real confirmation of the existence of the living dead.

This burial has never attracted so much attention to itself, if not for the strange remains. After the exhumation, the pathologists came to an unambiguous conclusion that all the bodies were dismembered before burial. But who needed to mock the dead like that?
After a careful study of the annals, historians suggested that in this way people tried to protect themselves from the uprising of the dead. In the Middle Ages, they really believed in this and were terribly afraid that after death the dead might come to life.
Researcher and clinical psychologist Artur Garaganov conducted his own investigation. He visited the medical archives of the Royal Library of Brussels and was able to gain access to ancient manuscripts (dated to the 12th century) - in ancient documents there were several described cases of a person turning into a zombie.
Ancient documents described in detail how people became the living dead: their faces were covered with sores and scabs, their skin became deathly pale, and their fingers were bent. Such people were bypassed, it was believed that they made a deal with evil spirits, it was for this reason that the bodies of zombies were dismembered after death (people believed that otherwise they would rise from the dead).
Scientists have conducted DNA studies of dismembered bodies and received shocking results. It turned out that all these people had two serious illnesses during their lifetime: porphyria and progeria. But this is incredible, because in modern medicine, such genetic traits never occur at the same time.

Progeria turned young people into old people, and because of porphyria, their bodies were covered with bloody sores (a spectacle not for the faint of heart), the sick really became like those who had risen from the dead.

Medieval doctors who took on the treatment of such patients gave them fresh blood to drink, and by the way, they were not far from the truth. Modern doctors have proven that someone else's hemoglobin alleviates the symptoms of the disease, but ordinary people could not understand such treatment and considered the sick to be the devil. Researchers have suggested that it was at that time that legends and myths about vampires appeared.
There is an assumption that the deadly combination of two diseases is inherited, the genetic defect has not survived to this day, because a terrible plague epidemic began, which wiped out millions of people, among whom were the "living dead" - carriers of progeria and porphyria.
Stories about the living dead and vampires have been passed down from generation to generation for a long time, but only in our time has it been possible to find out that creepy tales were based on real events.
