Housewives, unskilled workers, pensioners and women in general (2.2 times more often than men), with lower secondary education, low incomes, living in rural settlements, believe in prophetic dreams - this conclusion was made by sociologists after summing up the results of a survey of 1,600 of our compatriots … I do not seem to fit into any of these categories, but I believe in prophetic dreams. Once, many years ago, I had a similar dream. I will not retell it: firstly, I don’t want to remember the details (the dream was not pleasant), and secondly, in general, it doesn’t matter what I actually dreamed. But I woke up firmly convinced that my great-grandmother had died in Leningrad. And so it turned out.

To deny the existence of prophetic dreams is a thankless task. By the way, even scientists agree that something like this exists, because historians have recorded many cases proving that prophetic (or prophetic) dreams are not fiction. Dream specialists often cite the following example of a prophetic dream: Ryleev, being at a tender age, became seriously ill, and it was already going to the death of the baby, when his mother had a dream in which a certain voice advised her not to ask God for healing for the child, because his life will be hard, and his death will be terrible. She saw in every detail the fate of her son and at the end of his life - the gallows. However, the mother naturally dreamed only of the child's recovery. When she woke up, she saw that the boy's temperature was asleep, he was on the mend. The end of the life of the Decembrist Ryleev is well known to everyone - he was hanged in the Peter and Paul Fortress.

The dream of Mikhail Lermontov is also well known. The poet loved to study mathematics at his leisure. Once, having failed to cope with a difficult task, he went to bed and in a dream saw a stranger who suggested a solution. Lermontov woke up, wrote it down, and at the same time painted a portrait of the stranger. Many years later, when the portrait fell into the hands of specialists, they recognized him as John Napier, the creator of logarithms. Although Napier lived in the 17th century, and Lermontov in the 19th, nevertheless, the poet's contemporaries argued that Mikhail Yuryevich knew nothing about Napier or his works. By the way, an interesting fact: John Napier was a Scot, and, as you know, one of the branches of the Lermontov family tree originates from George Lermont, a native of Scotland.

They also say that the American President Lincoln, shortly before his death, saw in a dream the White House and in it a coffin under a white cover. Lincoln asked the soldier who was on guard at the coffin: "Who died?" And I heard: “President. He was killed in the theater. " Ten days later, Lincoln was shot dead in the theater.

Lydia Vertinskaya said that immediately after her husband's death she had the following dream: “I dream that I am seeing him off at the station and Alexander Nikolaevich says to me:“Look, don’t forget - I have the fifth car, sixth place.” The next day I went to get a pass to the Novodevichy cemetery, where Alexander Nikolaevich is buried. In the pass it was noted: 5th section, 6th place."

Historical prophetic dreams are known that bring any good news. This is how the appearance of the icon of the Kazan Mother of God is described in the annals: “The Queen of Heaven appeared in a dream to one pious girl who lived in the city of Kazan and said:“In such and such a place, in the ground, My icon is buried, announce this: let them open it and taken out. The same dream was repeated several times, and when the girl began to dig the ground in the indicated place, she really found there an icon of the Mother of God.

And here is a fresh example of a prophetic dream. He was described in one of his articles by Alexander Murashev, a full member of the Far Eastern People's Academy of Sciences: “Nikolai S. dreams that on the way from the airport he drove up to an intersection on ul. Leningrad. At the crossroads, Nikolay clearly sees the colliding "Volga" -taxi and "Zhiguli" red. Broken glass, traces of blood and gray matter are all around. Nikolay slowed down, and the policeman showed him a detour with a rod. The dream made a strong impression. Nikolai woke up and drank water. My soul was somehow bad. In the morning, Nikolai went to the airport for some need, and returning, he saw a picture of an accident that he dreamed at night. Exactly the same "Volga" and "Zhiguli", only there are no traces of blood on the broken glass. Out of surprise, Nikolai slowed down, and the policeman impatiently waved his baton, indicating a detour. Nikolay parked his car at the nearest bus stop to recover."

There are many more similar examples of prophetic dreams. It is interesting what scientists still think about this mysterious phenomenon. There are several theories. For example, bioenergetics believe that a sleeping person draws material information from an external source - from the noosphere. The organism, disconnected from reality, supposedly turns into a device with a definite predestination, which scans the noospheric information and selects the necessary information. However, not everyone is given to be such a device. In addition, information is difficult to break through building walls and clothing.

Neurologist Jonathan Winson and several other scientists use a computer analogy to describe what happens in the human brain during sleep. They say that the human brain processes the information accumulated during the day, connects it with the information already stored in memory. Dreams, according to Winson, can serve as a kind of window for observing nervous processes that, from early childhood, help a person develop, improve and correct behavior strategies. Chance helps to look into this window from time to time.

Our compatriot, bioradiologist Yuri Radchenko, does not agree with this theory. He believes that the hypothesis according to which the brain working in a dream continues to calculate all possible options, analyzes situations and eventually stumbles upon the right path has many flaws. Indeed, often messages in a dream only at first glance seem to be ahead of events, but in fact they bear echoes of already accomplished facts. “In my practice,” writes Yury Radchenko, “there was a case when a mother dreamed that her son, on April 5, 1990, went on a trip by car. The woman was very surprised at the first second, because she was sure that her boyfriend had no car. Further more. The young man drove the car not very confidently, lost control of the corner and crashed into a roadside tree. Fortunately, he was not injured, but the car was damaged. The dream came on the night of April 7th, and two days later a letter came from the guy that on April 5th he crashed a friend's car and now he urgently needs to get $ 500-700. The mother found out about this before the letter arrived. Can a dream be called prophetic if it simply showed the events that took place in another city two days earlier? The time frame, Radchenko concludes, can be completely limitless.

Radchenko also rejects the widespread belief that the coincidence of dream with reality is just an accident. The probability of such an accident, according to the calculations of his friend, candidate of physical sciences, is 0.0000000000000001. That is, the probability of coincidences is so small that it should not be taken into account.

Whatever it was, but prophetic dreams still remain one of the mysteries of human nature. By the way, usually a person can have a prophetic dream one or two times during his life. But you may never dream.
