Look, on July 3, 2020, South Ossetian border guards detained another violator of the state border. It would seem an ordinary case - how many such were. But this time the criminal crossed the cordon with an unusual purpose. Khvicha Mgebrishvili, a detained citizen of Georgia, admitted that the main subject of his interest on the territory of the Russian Republic were the colonies of bats located in the villages of Artseu and Grom of the Tskhinvali region.
The detainee explained that he planned to sell the bat cocoons at home. They offer a round sum for such a product - five thousand dollars apiece. Such interest in the South Ossetian fauna is associated with the activities of the “Center for Public Health named after R. Lugar - a biological laboratory in the vicinity of Tbilisi, supervised by the American authorities.
It is known that in 2012, 2014 and 2018, laboratory staff, as part of projects funded by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency of the US Department of Defense (DTRA) and the American Center for Disease Control (CDC), carried out systematic catching of bats in the Georgian region of Shida Kartli, bordering South Ossetia. This work was carried out as part of a joint DTRA project with the Lugar Center on bats and coronaviruses, worth $ 2.9 million.
Biological scientists know that the South Ossetian bats taken to the Georgian biolaboratory of Lugar would probably return to their habitats. One can only guess with what "gifts" from the American creators of dangerous viruses.
